Police investigation Empty Police investigation

Post by jrm30655 Sat Oct 06, 2012 6:24 pm

I went to Salvadors for breakfast about 7:30 today. The ATM just down the street had been hit. The glass was broken out of the front, the lower door was open and a cable was tied to the machine. The actual damage to the machine looked minor.

It looked like someone had attached the cable to a vehicle and tried to pull it out and the cable had broken.

About 8:30, two Police trucks came speeding into the parking lot and stayed about 30 minutes.

When I left about 9:30, they had tape up around the area and the glass on the sidewalk and all the police had vanished.

The lesson here is that a 1/2" cable will not pull that ATM off its footings.

It's just too bad the cable snapped. It would have been great to see the crook's rear-end or bumper still attached to the other end.

Or maybe wrecking his differential, driveshaft or transmission. Better yet to have the vehicle stall.

A week or two ago we sat in a restaurant in chapala watching them take down power cables from the poles on the main street and we speculated on what purpose those cables might serve next. The possibilities must be endless.

The title of this topic says Police Investigation. REALLY?? How far will they investigate a victimless crime like this?

Even when there is a real crome, B & E or such, if they catch a criminal it's sort of like fishing in a "Catch and Release" lake. LOL

Maybe they will charge the ATM machine for "failure to yield the right of way" or the cable provider for a criminally inept product since the "victim" was the would be thief(ves).
