Found the cars, keys inside. But the businessmen reappeared by helicopter. I smell fish.

Re: How do 10 police men disappear
The bodies of seven were found, and the three female officers were released, then the story sort of faded away.

Colima. The bodies of seven state police officers, missing since May 29, were found inside an abandoned vehicle on the Colima-Jalisco border.
Acccording to sources in the Department of Public Safety (SSP), the bodies were found inside a silver-colored Chrysler Pacifica that was abandoned near a soccer field in the community of Los Cedos, in the northern part of the municipality of Manzanillo.
Personnel from the State Prosecutor's Office, (FGE), went to the scene to collect the bodies and transport them to the state capital.
The officers were assigned to the State Preventive Police (PEP) and had up to twelve years of experience in patrol and crime prevention.
The officers had recently passed background examinations and were working in support of the FGE, executing arrest warrants.
Along with three other, female, officers they were abducted in the municipality of Cuautitlán de García Barragán last May 29 while escorting some mining executives who had arrived at the Playa de Oro International Airport in Manzanillo.
According to a press release from the SSP on May 30, the officers were under orders to provide security for the businessmen and had permission to enter the state of Jalisco.
The three women and the two civilians were set free Sunday morning, May 31, and made it back on their own to the city of Colima where they are reported to be safe and sound.
Ignacio Peralta Sánchez, governor of Colima, reported on the social media last Friday that he cooperated with his counterpart, Enrique Alfaro, in the search for the missing officers and the persons responsible for their disappearance. As of the time of this report, however, he has made no public statement about the discovery of the bodies of the police officers.

Re: How do 10 police men disappear
One theory, I heard from some sources, was that the cartel operatives in Colima thought the Jalisco police were on some kind of drug busting mission and not being escorts for the businessmen. A case of mistaken motive of the Jalisco Police movement in another state.
No matter the cause, it was tragic.

Re: How do 10 police men disappear
Seven dead officers in an ambush is not really that remarkable for Mexico. I recall fifteen being killed in a single confrontation in 2015 in Jalisco and eleven Jalisco state police officers a few years before that, fourteen last year in Michoacán and fourteen when a convoy was ambushed on a highway in Michoacán only a few years ago.

"Not remarkable" to me does not mean it is something to be ignored. "Not remarkable" just means you've become desensitized.
