Problem with Scotia Bank ATM

Just a warning to everyone - I've never had a problem with a Scotia ATM before but yesterday I tried to withdraw 5,000 peoso. The screen flashed a message that the full amount could not be dispensed at this time. I received a 500 peso note from the machine. But my account has posted the USD equivalent of 5,000 pesos. I have reported it to B of A, but thought I would warn every one. First time I had a problem with this machine. This has happened in the past that the machine did not have the full amount but my account was charged the correct amount dispensed.

That happened to me a few years ago at the same machine. B of A reversed it pending their inquiry with Scotia. Scotia confirmed it was a mistake.

I used that ATM at about 4pm. It gave me a hard time about reading my card but then dispensed $3000 in an unusual combination of bills. Maybe I got lucky?

I have had that machine jam while counting out the bills and short me $200 pesos. I figured it was because I asked for $7000. I don't withdraw those large amounts at once anymore.

I've seen the Banamax machine do that also. If it doesn' have any money and I tell it no thanks, it will often place a charge anyway. It almost always reverses the charge in an hour or so.

Yes it was the one in the Dominoes Pizza plaza next to Walmart.

B of A just credited my account for the amount I did not receive from the Scotia ATM. They say they will pursue with Scotia and I will probably receive some paper work I have to fill out and send in. I'm almost at the point of not using ATMs as I had a problem with my card being cloned at a Santander ATM in Jocotopec a few months ago. Used to be the Santander and Scotia ATMs were the safe ones to use.

It's not just here - my brother recently had his credit card cloned while in Connecticut. He suspects it was at a restaurant.
