Are you that effing dense you stupid son of a bitch, can't you remember what happened in your town last May,no innocent victims there right?johninajijic wrote:viajero wrote:Are you really that callous and ignorant or are you just looking out for your bottom line?johninajijic wrote: So what if someone got murdered, most who do are involved in drugs one way or another.
Why should we care about drug dealers getting murdered when they ruin the lives of children, teens and adults? Last time I knew drugs were illegal.

God are you stupid.johninajijic wrote:MexicoPete wrote:I know a lot of people who have been murdered here mostly at home while in bed
And so do you Parker. They were murdered by a famous culprit whom we all know, who is never punished. And I find that very sad. Do you know what the murderer's name is ?
"Old Age"
How long ago was that Pete? And why would he never be punished?

This is to Parker...............your account is extremely upsetting. You will not provide details yet you choose to post such a thing on a public board -how dare you! Many people other than those who actually live here read these web boards and people like you who do so instill fear and terror for their loved ones who live here. Either provide accurate accountable details or go find somewhere else to spread your fear mongering! We all know the things that happened here last May but all the more reason for "just the facts please'
Man, this really ticks me off!!!!

You're the stupid fucking dense son of a bitch because you "didn't read my post", you fucking moron. I said drug dealers, NOT innocent children. I did NOT say that we shouldn't care about innocent victims. Cork the bottle and go to bed!!! A few Assholes like you really take away from the pleasantness of posting on this forum.

Re: Ajijic at night rumor
I think, with all the sensitivity to violent crime since May, that to post about a neighbor just 4 blocks away being murdered while out walking WITHOUT MENTIONING that it was TWO or THREE YEARS AGO is a little bit different than a simple reminder to watch your backside.
There are a lot of people who have never been down here and are doing their research, so time frames and factual information are very important. Especially with all that has happened recently.

Re: Ajijic at night rumor
Many crimes most gringos never hear about. There was a kidnapping of a Mexican 2 weeks ago in Chapala, never saw it in any new source.
Things have gotten a bit dicey in the Chapala area and in the village is worse as there are less patrols. I personally wouldn't walk around Ajijic after 10pm alone (probably even accompanied if I wasn't walking from my car right into an establishment) and even going out at night to the nightspots it is a different crowd and not a classy one. Things changed last year and they aren't back to normal in my opinion. Too much keeps happening and few people are coming to Chapala and fewer locals are going out, I don't get a good vibe when I go out so do not do so lakeside, not worth the risk.
If three months pass without a kidnapping or murder than maybe people will rethink and forget, until then better safe than sorry.

Perhaps you’re right but it doesn’t change the reality. I go out at night but not alone. (Reminder this is my decision others will think differently.) If these words change others habits then that is their choice, not mine, but you can be guaranteed that I’m going to feel better if they actually consider these issues, “Newbies’ included. Why would this disturb anyone that I might be concerned about their well being?

Many kidnappings aren't reported to the police so don't make the news. For the most part only family members or others close to them or the situation are aware of what's happening.
And some times the stories are simply chismes with no basis in fact.

You must not have been in Chapala the last few weekends...no place to park...no place to walk.

Re: Ajijic at night rumor
The first weekend in August hotels reported 100% full capacity for the first time since May. Public confidence is up and so is weekend traffic.
On the other hand, Spencer is in a position to get accurate information about what's really going on, so when he talks I listen. I also observe what is going on around me. Things appear much more peaceful, but people that live in Chapala are still very wary.
For example, our corner store, for example used to close at 9:00 p.m....for many , many years. Since May, it closes at 8:30 because 1) no one comes in after that hour anymore and 2) their employees want to be home before 9:00. I asked the owner when they were going to start staying open untill 9:00 again? He said they were not, and I shouldn't be out on the street at that hour anyway.
My own personal indicator of the safety of my area will always be the habits and knowledge of those that live there, not the tourist from Guadalajara.

While there may not be parking, what type of person / tourist is coming? There is a difference, at least to me between the truckload of people from small towns who only buy ice and leave trash versus those who are educated, eat at the local spots and are respectful and do not buy or sell drugs. There have been very open sales of hard drugs on the Chapala malecon on the side by the palapa guayabo and it is only a matter of time before that causes some serious problems.

I have witnessed those drug sales in that area firsthand a few months ago. They appeared to be well dressed "college type" kids buying them. It looked to be either coke or meth. They didn't hide the transaction very well. I think you may have even been with us that night?
Re: Ajijic at night rumor
Can't help but say it...now you know what it's like to be a woman living... anywhere! Women always have to be wary, not go out too late at night, especially not alone, but still have to find a way to live with as much freedom as possible. One learns, one gets used to it, and most of all, one learns that it's never going to change.
