BLOOD DONOR EMERGENCY!!!!!!!!

tony jackson who is well known at the american legion in chapala needs open heart surgery.
one of his main arteries is 100% blocked and the surgeons at imss won't operate until he supplies enough blood from donors.

By the way posted same issue on TOB.....last month...Dr Leon, checked our friend out of IMSS, after we brought blood in that didn't match requirement.....got blood from local bank....if you want to save your friend with these issues....get him to another hospital...we went thru the same ordeal last month...fortunately our friend survived.

No problem.....Just spoke to Dr. Juan Pablo, Our houskeepers husband is also O neg....will donate as well....this should make 3 donors. Hopefully good carma....I am like a dog on a bone when issues like this occur......Proud to assist

I have a friend years back who died waiting lakeside for his angeogram at IMSS - he needed open heart surgery but they couldn't get enough blood fast enough and he ran out of time - didn't make it. So if you know anyone who can help, please pass the information on.

Get him out of IMSS.....cost for blood is not an issue....living is the issue.....check him into quality hospital......sorry for response....lined up 3 donors.....save his life...get him to a real hospital....IMSS is a bad deal :(

There is a post on Spark's board that says there are 3 Mexicans who will donate blood for money. The poster says he will donate some money. If this is true, I would also be willing to donate some money if that's what it takes. Who can confirm this?

BOB, The issue is blood type........I lined up 3 donors..all O neg....now find he needs more....either O neg or B neg

My friend who had open heart surgery 3 years ago said it's customary to pay students and other young people a few hundred pesos - back then it was about 200 pesos plus the ride in and out.

IMSS is terrible problem but it's possible he doesn't have the money to pay for surgery. My friend who had open heart surgery 3 years ago in Guadalajara paid $50,000 US - got reimbursed eventually from US insurer, but there are people who don't have that kind of money. So I think until someone tells us he is in a private hospital we all have to do what we can to find donors.

I do hope there is someone going to the hospital to advocate for him. I helped a friend with IMSS who had a pacemaker put in 2 years ago and it was a horrific experience for me. even though I speak Spanish I could not get any information from anyone. I went in every day and one morning I got a call that if I was not there by 10am to sign the papers they would cancel the surgery - I didn't even know it was scheduled. I flew in and signed the papers for him - not even related. But if it's all he has I feel we have to try and help him.
