Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
Nah.....he could see really good. Almost took my fingers off when I was feeding him the fish parts. The seals follow the boats back to the docks like trained dogs. They beg for the guts when we fillet the catch on the dock. The little buggers take half the fish off our hooks while we are fishing too ......
Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
Oh! He's a water piggy. Cute but I just stopped feeling sorry for him.
I'm not much into fishing but I do appreciate what's brought home. My hubby's not one either but did get to go to Rivers Inlet as part of a Corporate Retreat Treat...our freezer was STUFFED with salmon filets.

He still talks about the breakfast conversation (and they'd already been out fishing)...how many "pulls" down the largest salmon was caught at that a.m.

Rivers Inlet is beautiful. The owner of the company I work for (London Drugs) also owns Sonora Lodge. I have been there on business but unfortunatley it is ultra high end and out of my price range to partake in the amenities.

I think that it would only be fair that they would give you a week free at that resort when you retire!

Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
The Sonora Resort gets my vote...hands down!
River's Inlet looks like Boy Scout Camp by comparison...I doubt that it appeals to many women...and that may appeal to many men.
Do you think the fishing is better at one than the other?
BTW, if the company that hubby was consulting for hadn't footed the bill for Rivers Inlet, it wouldn't have been in our price range either...salmon sure was good though.

Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
I'm not sure if the fishing is better at one versus the other. There are a lot of variables in play. Time of year, #'s in the run, water temp, weather, etc.

I went Sturgeon fishing in the mighty Fraser River this morning. Caught one that was about 80lbs.

Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
In Canada you can no longer keep any Sturgeon. They are a protected species now. It is strictly catch and release. There is a tagging program that most Sturgeon fisherman partake in.
Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
Sad but good. Sturgeon are SO good to eat.

Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
Will this post ever end ? It is possible to eat fresh sturgeon in B.C. Yes. They comprise some of the sockeye seine fishery by catch. I have purchased it at the Granville Island market. That was some years ago when I was CONNECTED, a cash buyer, and first in line. Think top quality tuna injected with butter. It's kind of like black cod/sablefish - hard to overcook. It was one of those eating experiences you never forget. That being said, sturgeon caviar is available here now. They farm it on the Sunshine Coast. Big $. (like north of $160/ oz. I wonder what they do with the fish themselves . Spawned out fish are basically fertilizer. Sorry girlfish. So, if you want to get close to a sturgeon here, get close to an native Canadian, real close.

Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
White Sturgeon do not spawn every year but they do spawn many times during their long life of up to 100 years. A sturgeon after spawning is NOT fertilizer. Salmon are at the end of their life when they spawn.
