Stupid question

Given rain this week....when will rain birds be heard?

I think they've probably all drowned by now....

Well Jim, there was someone claiming on TOB that they heard rainbirds in Chapala Haciendas. The rainbird BS comes up every year but I highly doubt the validity in February. Maybe before the real rainy season but at this point a bunch of hot air.

Cicadas come out BEFORE the rain have sex and die with the rain. They sing during the heat so you will have to wait for them until the warm weather in May. Brigitte

Are you kidding? Have sex and then roll over dead? So what is the point, can't be to make little baby cicadas if they croak right away. Could they be doing it just for the fun of it? If so, they are very nearly human and could be set to take over the world. Too bad- I was betting on the cucarachas.

It is more common than one thinks. When I was young and worked as an
bad EMT for a volunteer fire department we use to pick up men like this
more often than you would think. Evidently Doctors tell heart patients to
not do the wild dance anymore and they ignore the advice and Voila some
poor women has a beached whale on top of them and can't move. Not
so funny when the woman is screaming like happened one time. Not to
offend anyone but in a job like that you do get a little bit thick skinned
to mentally survive the job. As we left to wait for the coroner to show up
we basically wondered who got there bell rung first:-) :-) Little gallows
humor there. I am sure Viagra doesn't help this situation...

I think Male Praying Mantis gets screwed literally and figurativly the same way as the spider. (not completely sure??)

The "widows" in the previous posts don't just bite their mates' heads off... they then consume the hapless fellow as he makes a nutritious meal with which she will nurture their offspring.
I dunno... but really, is there that much difference from the males who work themselves to death for the next 20 or 30 years in order to raise and educate their offspring and end up dying from a coronary or drinking themselves into a state of oblivion?

I made that choice too. Not everyone, I believe, is cut our for parenthood... besides, my sister has had two and they have each had twins, so she has successfully replaced the whole family on her own... May she be blissed. Lizzy

No kids for me either. Bad Genes. My wife had one. She got lucky and had
one of those no work kids who actually talk and discuss things with Mom
and Dad. I try to explain to her how lucky she was after listening to 25 years
worth of parents comments at work. I had a very bad experience where I
was in an old Extended care floor (before they had the nice places to die
we have now) as a kid volunteer and a girl died in my arms before her
parents could arrive and she had the same disease I carry on my genes.
Let me tell you even a 14 year old boy has to take something seriously
like this. It stuck.

Not really, sorry to say but I am a very responsible person. I work everyday on being a good person. I have a ways to go.
Spend too many years locked in a cubicle floor with other folks just like me. It was fun but not good practice for the real
world. We were much harder on each other than the normal world. We didn't take offense. Different down here. Geeks
tend to hang with other geeks just like hanging out with your co workers in any job except for we don't tend to see other
folks as R&D folks tend to be locked up somewhat at work. When we go home we tend to play with other geeks or
professor types form the University or civil engineering firm in town. Not the best plan for being somewhat normal. I try
and my wife is very patient :-)
