I think if Ajijic had better lighting, more activity at night and a bigger police presence then people wouldn't be afraid to get out after dark. I recall staying in Lower West Ajijic a few years ago and we didn't feel safe walking the streets after dark. In fact, there was a shooting in 6 corners during our stay that year. Apparently some cholos playing with a gun..........

It seems to Dawg that both the city of Chapala and its municipal delegacion Ajijic are unsafe places to be and full of dangerous rednecks of the Mexican and NOB varieties so Dawg is headed southeast to the Chiapas Highlands where the only thing to worry about is the relatively peaceful and civil Zapatistas and their indigenous constituents. Who´d have thought in 2006 when we bought a home down there that it would become a safe haven from the sadistically cruel Lakeside enclave. By the way, Dawg is not speaking here of the criminal gangs preying upon the loclals but of the contributors to the thread involving Susan and Jim W. - a singularly sadistic lot if I ever saw one. I must admit, however, that I have found the whole imbroglio fascinating and entertaining. This forum is becoming quite amusing.

dawg, ajijic has changed radically. my family owned property here for almost 30 years. i enjoy your posts. the difference between us is: you are the proust to my seinfeld. what i was doing w/jim was the internet version of "catch a predator", the script wrote itself. if he chose to PM & publicity pursue a "hesheit" (as i was called), he got what he deserved. i never PMed him back untill last night (or responded to his comments). it was time to expose him. he now has all the attention, his own threads, he is a very influential man. this was not "sadistic" as you say. it was great social comedy. yes the forum can be entertaining. & the local criminal gangs are infinity more intelligent than the average lakechapala poster.

six corner was always dicey. even 20+yrs ago. & for ajijic central, always best to stay on lighted streets w/some activity. that was always true. except now, instead of a purse snatch, it could be worse. i have not changed my routine @all. the problem is finding a cab most of the time, after 7pm. i used to set this up in advance, thats the best way.
