Re: No Business in Restaurants
we need POOLS, heated & nice, in AJIJIC. not more restaurants. not tacky gift shops. dont mention nautico club. they have NO heat during the week, after august thats necessary untill end of march. (for $300 u.s.d. a month thats stingy, & the pool is not impressive). thats as good as it gets!

Last month as I recall, somewhere in the village. I'll find it and let you know.

Re: No Business in Restaurants
Doesn't surprise me. I believe Francine was having issues with the management at Danza del Sol for quite some time. Did someone open another restaurant in the old spot?

Today is a day for restaurants to clean up charging high prices, but many, many of them have good reputations for serving good food on the Holidays like MANIX and NUEVO POSADA.

Which reminds me. Dawg had to head over to Torito this Christmas afternoon to get some Bimbo Bread and Best Foods Mayo for the prized and obligatory, after Christmas dinner turkey sammiches. No whole wheat bread or other wholesome ingredients for this annual treat. As Julia Child said about a making a great BLT during the height of the heirloom tomato season, a great BLT (read leftover turkey sandwich in Dawg´s case) rerquires white (in Alabama read "reglar") bread and Hellmans (read Best Foods) mayo. Therefore Dawg was on a search for these ingredients for the sammiches.
While there, I was treated to observing some sort of Christmas luncheon at Salvadors next door and, now Dawg is a nearly 70 year old geezer, what appeared to be the Roca Azul Senior Citizens Silence is Golden Coalition and Pre-Need Society filing in for whatever annual Christmas luncheon event they enjoy annually and that crowd was so old Dawg felt like a spring chicken which I definitely am not. A fake, skinny Santa Clause in a Volkswagen dressed up to look like a Christmas tree was guiding the mainly blind, deaf and disoriented geezer drivers into the Torito parking lot. That had to be the most dangerous job in North America. Luckily, I got out of there alive but you could not pay me enough to take on a job more dangerous than being a Shi´ite cleric on any given Saturday in Baghdad.

Re: No Business in Restaurants
It appeared to be the only restaurant open for breakfast/lunch...the following restaurants were all closed (we did a drive by and finally went home and made pancakes)...Gossips, Robertos, Las Molletes, Hacienda Steak House, Tabarka's, Waffle House, Pepitos, Pranzo's, Two Spoons, Secret Garden, 60's in Paradise, David's Cafe, El Jardin de Ninette...even Subway!

Re: No Business in Restaurants
Although I haven't read the GDL Reporter, I'm sure many are open for Christmas afternoon and evening Dinner. Those would be Manix and Nuevo Posada. We have friends going to Posada. Personally I would have picked Manix for Roast Turkey and Roast Pig. Roberto's and Armando's is usually open too.

Re: No Business in Restaurants
An article from INFORMADOR predicts an increase in revenues for certain restaurants in Guadalajara due to the elections in 2012. From what I gathered from this article, politicians making important decisions and the fact that they wish to be seen in public will contribute to this increase:
