I had heard the incident in La Cristina but did not see any media reports until now. Sorry for the bad Google translation: link http://www.paginaquesiselee.com.mx/index.php/contenido/noticias/9364-agreden-a-balazos-a-la-policia

When attempting to check an abandoned van on the road Jocotepec-Chapala, Chapala security features, Jocotepec and State Police were attacked and killed by three men.
The incident took place on November 27, around 1:15 am, at the height of Splitting The Cristina, said the Director of Public Safety, Captain Reynol Contreras Muñoz. When the units were conducting a routine tour of the area, observed a Chevrolet S10 with Jalisco plates that was parked on the road. "When they came to where the truck came down the elements to see what was happening and were met by three men dead who brought guns, so they responded to the assault elements and fortunately none of the policemen was injured," said the official, mentioning that the three subjects fled to the hill without achieving arrest. In this confrontation, the patrol CH-042 of the Municipal Police in Chapala was shot in the driver's door.

NO ONE was killed not the police nor the aggressors. Bad translation. Why did the translation say 3 men were killed when it says that the police was shot at?
Bad translation to say the least.

I really didn't understand the translation at all - probably should read it in Spanish to get the real meaning.

Reading the report in Spanish it looks like Chapala police discovered a Chevy truck S10 abandoned (with Jalisco plates) in La Cristina. Upon investigation there were three bad guys with guns in the car. A shoot out ensued. Only the car door of the police car was shot. Nothing about the bad guys getting away or what happened to them. That's the best I can do reading it in Spanish. Maybe someone in the group has better Spanish.

The bad guys ran off into the hills. No one was shot or killed. The police car got a bullet in the door.

Perhaps it would be better next time not to use Google.

This is total garbage.

excerpt:

and were met by three men dead

Also how is this even possible? Three dead men greeted them?

When attempting to check an abandoned pickup on the Jocotepec-Chapala highway law enforcement officers from Chapala, Jocotepec and the State Police were shot at by three subjects.
The events took place on Nov. 27 at about 1:15 am at the La Cristina subdivision, reported Captain Reynol Contreras Muñoz, Director of Public Safety. While on routine patrol in the area the units observed a Chevrolet S10 pickup with Jalisco plates parked on the highway. “When they got to where the pickup was, the officers got out to see what was happening and were met by gunfire from three men armed with handguns, the officers responded to the attack and fortunately none of the police officers was wounded”, added the official. He said that the three subjects fled toward the hill and could not be captured. Chapala Municipal Police vehicle CH-042 received bullet holes in the driver's door.
