Re: Lake Level?
The lake has risen a tiny bit but there won't be anything significant until they open the dams which will be evident by the large masses of lirio that come out of the river. It will take several good rainy seasons for it to recover to 2018 levels again.

Re: Lake Level?
The lake is rising but I haven't seen any signs that the dams have been opened yet. Has anyone seen lirio out there?

Re: Lake Level?
I have not seen any lirio, usually walk Ajijic malecon daily.
When we flew into GDL a few weeks ago we could see many overflowing lakes, but unsure if what we saw were the dams.

Re: Lake Level?
There's supposed to be something like two hundred Dams on the Lirma river restricting water flow into Lake Chapala.
Mostly farms. Some who still use the old Egyptian Nile technique of flooding their fields and then planting.

Re: Lake Level?
In the 12 rainy seasons I've experienced here at lakeside this is the weirdest.
Days and days of clouds and overcast. Weeks on end. But no exceptional rain where I live in SAT.

I see it too, far out into the lake.
I can hardly wait for it to drift into shore.

My solar production is way down this season compared to past years.
We've had good rains in Ajijic Centro; my rainfall totals are mostly pretty close to those at www.ajijiceweather.com during storms.

Re: Lake Level?
Well, it has a long way to go. We haven't even surpassed the same depth from this time last year. If we don't get a good September/October, we will be in trouble again....

Re: Lake Level?
Looking at the charts it appears the lake is peaking out already. Disappointing considering we are well above the yearly average. They must be hoarding all the water up river.....

Re: Lake Level?
There's still hope. We got 1.07 inches overnight!
Per the history, so far 2024 seems a lot like 2021, month to month. In 2021 we had large amounts of rain in Sept. and Oct.
Still a chance we could get a bit more of recovery in the next 45 or so days.

Re: Lake Level?
The Lirio on the shorelines shows that water is being released from the dams but may be not in the amounts we'd like to see.

This morning's rain totalled 0.85 inch on my gauge, very heavy at times.
