If I had seen that picture a couple of years ago before I started my diet regimen it would have given me goose bumps. Now I’m so over it.
Now I’m glad to know that when I die I’ll die healthy. LOL

Anyone who thinks that making healthy choices after age 50 will make a difference is spitting into the wind. I know far too many people who always made healthy choices die young. It's a crap shoot and most likely your genes play a far more significant part in the decision than any of us really know.

Pre-existing conditions can also come back to bite you in the ass when you get older. I had hepatitis B in my 20s and now I have liver sclerosis so I never want to get my liver angry.
I sure do miss my wine.

I had some friends tell me once they got so stoned, they just pulled up chairs in front of the open fridge.

I tend to agree. I remember reading an interview decades ago with what was then the oldest man in Canada, something like 103. He basically lived on canned beans and coffee and said he'd quit smoking at the age of 99 because everyone was telling him how bad it was for his health, but started again a year later.
Of course, back when he was a kid, there was no such thing as processed food, and I think what you eat as a kid, in addition to genetics, has a lot to do with future health.

Explanations for the Immigrant Mortality Advantage. Recent estimates of life expectancy at birth suggest that the foreign-born population in the United States will live approximately four years longer than the U.S.-born population (Medina et al. 2020).Aug 1, 2022
This could be cause and effect of eating so much processed food.

The closest thing to junk food allowed when I was growing up was ice cream and that was because my mother loved it. No shortcuts in her cooking either.

I also grew up in a household with no junk food. We had packaged cereals like corn flakes and cheerios, but not super sugerey ones. There weren't bags of cookies and candy, or soft drinks, and we weren't fed hot dogs and such.

Same here. Winter was oatmeal or cream of wheat, summer was Cheerios, corn flakes or shredded wheat. The big treat was when parents had parties we’d get ginger ale.
