Re: More on the virus
I just returned from a 5 week trip to Canada. 6 flights were involved in seeing my two daughters and their families, one lives near Ottawa, one on Vancouer Island. I masked up in the airports and planes and in stores and other public places during the trip. I also stayed at the homes of various friends where none of us wore masks. In spite of all that travelling and hanging out with friends and family, and only having had 2 Pfizer vaxes and no boosters, I did not contract COVID.
Almost all my friends and family up there have gotten COVID since the rules have been relaxed, in spite of being fully vaxed and boosted. And they all were aware of how they got it- indoor situations with lots of people, none of whom, including them, were wearing masks.
I believe strongly, based on my own experience and that of those I know, that masking up in indoor public venues is the key to avoiding COVID and I will continue to do so.
I was in the vast minority of those wearing masks in stores, banks, etc. in Canada. As opposed to last summer when most people were still masking and no one I knew had gotten COVID.

I have to ask - is there any particular reason you feel compelled to continue posting screenshots here every day? I mean, 1 case of COVID in all the north shore communities -- maybe it's time to let this go? It's not like we can't look it up ourselves if we get curious...
Just a thought.
Just a thought.

Re: More on the virus
There will be more waves and we are still not back down to the levels achieved on May 1st. Many people actually do travel outside of the north shore of Lakeside.
However, if anyone else would like me to stop, please make your voices heard by "liking" Dixonge's post or posting yourselves. Trust me, I will not be offended in any way.

Re: More on the virus
Although I don't live Lakeside, I appreciate you doing this, Ferret. I am interested in the national levels, and while I live in Nayarit, I do a lot of shopping, have dentist appts, etc, in Puerto Vallarta, pretty much every 10 days. So the Jalisco numbers are also of value to me.
I find Dixonge's post to be mean-spirited- especially his "feel compelled" wording. It isn't necessary for him to look at this thread if it doesn't interest him. I'm sure you have better things to do with your time than post the stats almost daily, and I appreciate you taking this on. Of course I can look for the stats elsewhere, but I also know I can easily find them here, where I come anyway to read other posts. One stop shopping, so to speak.

I have to ask — is there any particular reason you feel compelled to keep reading and commenting? I mean, it is not as though the Ignore function does not exist. Maybe it’s time to let go of this need to tell people how you feel when no one really cares. It is not like you can’t just scroll on past posts that hold no interest for you.

That's the problem with the written word - so easy to read sentiments into it that weren't intended...
But thank you for reminding me of the ignore function. I wish I could ignore entire threads, but maybe just ignoring thread authors would be a temporary fix? A bit of a blunt instrument, but effective.

When you ask someone why they "feel compelled" to do something, when you in fact have no idea if they feel compelled, that's extremely presumptous and a put-down, regardless of what you claim to have intended.
It has never crossed my mind that Ferret feels compelled to post these stats. It seems to me that it is done as a public service.
And BTW, Mostly Lost has been posting them on TOB as well.

Why can’t you ignore threads? People do it all the time. I do it everyday. What compulsion drives you to click on a thread that holds no interest for you, one you consider useless?
