Second Vaccination Done

We got our second vaccination with Moderna Monday. The next day we both had sore arms and definitely low energy. Call it fatigue or whatever, it was not that bad. I could have worked all day if I had wanted to, but in retirement, there is no need to. We lounged all day.

Today, arm not sore, full of energy, walked three miles and feeling fine. So, I am assuming that most folks will have the same reaction to their second shots (Pfizer or Moderna, they are similar) as we did. Understand, with these two vaccines, it takes 2 (Pfizer)to 3 (Moderna) weeks to reach optimum immunity. Our liberation day is March 8 by those standards. We are looking forward to celebrating at our favorite Jacksonville restaurant on that day.

C Bob we were very lucky to get our first vaccination only three weeks after they made them available here in FL. Most folks still have not received their first shots yet.

There was hardly anyone in line Monday so, the shots are available by appointment. Any one over 65 can get their shots if they want them. I think they will move on to phase 2 soon, if they haven't already.

I might also mention that because you are that far behind us, we may not be able to come down until 2022. Even with the vaccinations, we still need to avoid situations that expose us to people carrying Covid. Airline terminals for instance. More people need to get vaccinated to get to that goal of herd immunity.

Received my second pfizer shot on Friday. My arm did not hurt Friday but next day it was sore and I didn't feel up to par but nothing really bad. Sunday I was completely well. The Chickasaws have done well with their vaccine program and on Friday when I got my shot, they dropped the age requirement to 40.

Once I get vaccinated I won't be hesitant to go anywhere.

It was just announced if you are fully vaccinated you do not have to quarantine if exposed to covid. Great news, as CanuckBob said, "we can go anywhere!"

That is very true. With new mutations cropping up, they do not have the data to say we are immune because we have been vaccinated. They just do not know. My guess is that we will be, but nobody really knows so, keep following the protocols is safest.

Covid is here to stay. Get vaccinated and get on with things.....IMO.

Got my Pfizer first shot on Tuesday. While in Texas it was interesting the conversations I had with some who said they will not take the vaccination because "3 or 4 people have died after receiving it." Still trying to wrap my head around that logic since something like 473,000 Americans have died from the virus.

They say it is 95% effective so that means 5% are not covered or helped.
They are not saying it is perfect.

I just got my second Moderna shot a couple of hours ago. I have also had my annual flu shot, as usual. My wife will get her second Pfizer shot in about ten days. I hope we remain compatible.

That reminds me of the joke Kinky Friedman told at a campaign rally about 20 yrs ago when he ran for governor of Texas. "Folks I've got good news and bad news. It is the news media over reporting things and scaring people. I have talked to a couple of seniors here at our gated community and they say they are not going to take the vaccination either. There is one who says she wants to wait and see how WE do before getting hers. I have not seen her yet, but we are doing just fine.

Interesting.... I have NOT come across any 'news media' reports in the US that makes me cautious about taking the Covid vaccine. Just the contrary, I see reports similar to what Jreboll shared above, encouraging people to get the Covid vaccine.... sharing the CDC guidelines and recommendations.  I, like Kiko, almost laugh when I hear how people come up with their reasoning!  I personally have NEVER had a shot that easy and with less reactions.

IMO, folks saying they are waiting because of bad press are just looking for someone else to blame their trepidation on.

Guy that has litlle to do with Mexico.. The Pfizer here is going to be wit doctor and health peronael. We are going to get Astreca Zeneca.. which i approved but countries like Germany, Switzerland and other do not want to give them to people over 65 which is mot of us as there had been death related reactions in Spain and other places, or the Russian Vaccine which has now been approved and seems of and the Chinese vaccines which are not approved so let´s talk about that rather than what is happening in the States which has no bearing on what we are getting in Mexico.

Sorry to have ruffled your feathers Brigitte.  As an aside, I have never seen Bob say that this Board will be exclusively about Mexico. You often talk about France here. What's the difference?

Any information we provide about vaccinations in USA and Canada will help inform people Lakeside about what is happening with the vaccines. They can use this information to decide risks of taking vaccine and preferred vaccine when available. Many people may decide not to take the dubious vaccines offered by Mexico and wait until they can pay for a known vaccine like pfhizer and moderna which we are providing first hand information on.
