Jalisco Lockdown
This from the Mexico Daily News:

The over 60 thing is a puzzler. One needs food, water, and money.

Re: Jalisco Lockdown
Well, I was able to go to the small stores here in Tizapan this morning and the bank, Bodega Aurrera no go, I am too old!!
I was mainly trying to figure out what would be ok, and what not, bot my answer.

If you are over 60, you can go out for essentials like food, money, meds, Doctor's appointments etc. but ONLY if you wear a mask and practice proper hygiene and distancing.

The notice I just read above says over 60 people or those at risk for health reasons are not to go out AT ALL.
I'm totally confused !!!

Re: Jalisco Lockdown
There is information on TOB. They are not to go out at all just for the sake of going out. Essentials are essentials. The rest of the time, stay home. Based on the suspected incubation period (between 5 and 14 days), I have been going out once every two weeks for essentials only.

That over 60 notice is been ignored Lakeside. I have been out to various necessary places the last 3 days and I am over 60. I wear a mask. I am just waved through the road checks and never been rejected at any place of business.

It's just that different notices say different things about the over 60 folks, and it's not clear AT ALL. Meanwhile, I'm masked and intend to go for necessities, regardless of the confusing statements.

Re: Jalisco Lockdown
And yet Walmart is different but they are both owned by the same entity. It's all in the interpretation of said law.

Re: Jalisco Lockdown
Had to go out today to Ajijic. Wore mask and had to walk along the carretera for about a half block. Was passed by Muni police within an arms length. They paid no attentoon to me at all.
I asked before but got no answer, who will be enforcing this? Who are the Mask Police?
Edited to add: per current GR article on FB, it's the muni police. GR online is on FB and you can "follow" them and receive timely announcements and articles. Thanks, GR!
Saw several other over-60 foreigners all wearing masks.

Re: Jalisco Lockdown
Saying over 60s can't go out at all makes no sense.Without creating a small army of shoppers and errand runners, we'd all starve to death.
(Mind you I'm NOB, so it's different for me.)
Stay safe,
Michael

Re: Jalisco Lockdown
I have passed thru the stop near Pierda Barrenada twice. Once they asked for a comprobante like a CFE bill which I did not have with me. I was allowed to pass anyway. But I will have a bill with me next time to prove address. A Mexican friend was turned away because she did not have a comprobante so she called me and I told her to have her husband whatsapp a copy to her. That worked. YMMV.
Some of us with ongoing weekly medical tests at Chopo have to cross the checkpoint. No problems just have some documentation.

Re: Jalisco Lockdown
Yesterday I was in my corner Oxxo (wearing a mask). I paid my CFE bill and bought some milk and limes. When I turned around to leave I almost bumped into a police officer standing behind me. I am a “few” years past 60 and look every bit of it. We greeted each other and I walked out. As I got in my car the officer came out to his motorcycle. We waved to each other.
Also, I had to meet my landlady downtown in front of Coppel. I got there a bit before her. There was an employee at the door greeting customers and pointing them to the table with hand sanitizer on it. I saw several people enter, all wearing masks. Then came the pretty young woman without a mask. He stopped her and said something. She responded with something. He shook his head no. She said something else and got the no head shake and the finger wag. She turned around and flounced back up the street.

Flouncing practically died out after around 1900, so you REALLY saw something.

LOL's use the word flounce gave me a complete picture! I know what she looks like, how she is dressed, how she moves . . . In one word. Good writing.

Re: Jalisco Lockdown
Thank you for the appreciation of the word flounce. I can not recall the last time I heard or used it. But, as I watched the woman walking away that is what popped into my head. You are right, TR. it does a lot of work for one word. Thanks again.
