Question Empty Question

Post by kipissippi Mon Sep 12, 2011 6:20 pm

I've been having some pain first at the bottom of my sternum between my ribs then kind of spreading out along the bottom of my ribs. Hurts some when I breath deeply. I've had a double bypass and it's not the same pain that I had then...it was higher and felt like Captain Hook was trying to retrieve my heart! I've got an appointment tomorrow with my GP....my Cardiologist gave me an appointment for next week. GP wanted me to go to the ER.....which isn't going to happen. Last time I did that they let me sit there for 11 hours, kept me in the hopital for three days and said I'd passed out from dehydration. Yeah right. Wasn't till I demanded an angiogram that they found the two mostly blocked arteries. So you can understand why I'm not a fan of our local ER. I'm hoping it's something other than my heart. Anyone had anything similar? Hopefully ending up to be something minor?

Yesterday I was cutting these enormormous sticker things (pig weed) with huge cutters. I'm wondering if maybe I overdid it and bruised that area? I was pretty beat and overheated when I came in. Hal is staying home tomorrow so he can feed the horses and drive me in. Getting old's a bitch.

Kippy: A diagnosis by your buds on the web could be a seriously dangerous way to go.
Please go to your doc.

Just tapping into the group's experiences. My appointment is in the morning. I'll be there for certain...was just hoping that someone might have experienced something similar that turned out to be in the No big Deal " catergory....I'm sure it would make me sleep better.

You probably strained a muscle with the shears. This happens to me when I do a lot of overhead reaching like taking down and putting up drapes...or fold a lot of kingsize sheets and comforters.

But if you don't keep your appointment with the Doctor tomorrow, I'm gonna come up there and...well, you will need to go to the ER.

Girl Scout's Honor...I'll be there with bells on! Because of the by passes I keep track of my BP regularly. It's actually a little low....pulse rate is a bit higher than usual though.

You're probably right ferret. I lift a lot of things I probably shouldn't...but ...this is a horse ranch and things have to get done. Oh the joy.

I agree with “ferret” including keeping your appointment. However, I also believe in second opinions. Both my better half and I have done this and in both cases surgery really wasn’t needed immediately. Doctors make money under worst case scenarios and I hate to keep repeating “Gringal” statement but “follow the money”. In my case there were very large risk factors (death very possible) and with the better half, probably not necessary. Under such stressful circumstance just keep your head about yourself. Take care, Parker

I agree with Parker about second opinions. The second opinion I had back NOB about foot surgery confirmed that said surgery was unnecessary. The "practice" had financial goals to meet, and what did I need a fully functioning foot for anyway.......I wasn't a taxi dancer, was I? Let's hear a chorus now of "Stay'in alive" and I'll dance to it, too. cheers

Docs are a necessity, and Kippy needs to be sure everything is okay, considering her medical history.......just watch your back and sometimes, yes, follow the money too. Rolling Eyes
I'm not positive, but I think Kippy and her ranch are NOB.
Yes, indeed, John, Kippissippi happens to live in Northern Mississippi within a few miles of Metropolitan Memphis, Tennessee wherein reside a number of cardiologists and, Dawg would venture to say, a few more than inhabit the sorry redneck shores of Lake Chapala so, if I were you, I would refrain from recommending cardiologists hereabouts as I am sure Kippy can find qualified heart specialists in that city who can hold a candle to the boneheads floating about the lake without having to resort to a flight to the environs of Guadalajara.

Kippy ~ Glad you are heading in for vetting... smart cookie.
I would bet your pulse is up from being a little bit stressed. Sounds like you have a good cardiologist there. A good relationship with your doc is worth it's weight in gold... even at today's prices.

Wish I could find a cardio doc here who would relate to me as other than a name on his damned clipboard. We don't have one in town... they visit from Co Spgs. like circuit judges and are so impersonal... Blackeye
Pretty please let me know what's up, as soon as you know of course.
I would not be surprised if ferret was right about the strained muscles... let's hope so. Lizzy

I don't think Kippy wants to hear, "Take it easy." It's not her style... she's a doer and somewhat of an overachiever... kinda person that makes the rest of us look lazy.
But it's a good thought Chapla-g. We should send her lots of those. Lizzy

No wonder it hurt under her ribs. I'll bet she was coughing until she made herself sore - I've been there and done that. Thanks you all were stern with her about seeing a doctor.

Thank you Ms. Mac!!!

I'm so sorry she has pneumonia but am equally relieved that it's not her heart. Hope she has a speedy and uneventful recovery.

If you get a chance to speak with her, please tell her she's not the eveready bunny anymore and can't keep going and going. Yes, things have to get done...but they don't get done at all if she's not there, do they.
