CB's Adventure
Where's Bob? Was supposed to fly through Hong Kong yesterday. Let us know how it's going, CB.

No problems what so ever. Media hype as usual. Hanging in Malaysia now then off to Burma and Vietnam.

It's just a flu people. Is the death rate higher than all the other flu's? Most will feel like they have a cold or something. I'm not worried of dying from it......I was here in Mexico at the height of the H1N1 too.
Anyhow, my trip has been awesome so far. Kuala Lumpur is a magnificent city.

Good point.
I have no thoughts of you guys getting the flu, much less dying from it, my thoughts are about the hassles of flying into the eye of the influenza hurricane. No hassles?

Nope, in fact the airports and tourist attractions are empty. Great time to be touring Asia. Getting home may become a problem if they shut down Hong Kong however we can always go through Korea or Hawaii.
Posting all my pics to Facebook.

I don't know with which Airline you flew, but keep an eye on those that are cancelling flights to Hong Kong.

That's mainland China, not Hong Kong. We are not traveling to the US either.

Re: CB's Adventure
The airports are only concerned if you have been in Wuhan during the previous 14 days or if you have an elevated body temperature. I am returning to Mexico from Canada so don't expect any problems.

Most people don't realize that, at least in the US, flu is a much bigger issue than coronavirus. In the US alone, flu has resulted in 12,000 to 61,000 deaths annually since 2010. That's from the CDC's website and it's a stat that rarely appears in the press.

Re: CB's Adventure
Yep, media hype. The Chinese are now accusing the US for spreading fear and hype.
As a side note we have only encountered one tourist attraction closed due to virus concerns. Heading to Burma today where I believe there has also been no reports of the virus.......yet.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the flu kills mainly the elderly.

You all are comparing a baby with an adult. The corona virus is just a baby. Let’s wait to see what happens as it matures. It might turn out to be the monster that some are predicting.

Not always; the Spanish Flu was especially bad for young people. Older adults had some immunity from a previous strain that the younger people had not been exposed to.HoneyBee wrote:Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the flu kills mainly the elderly.

And so what? A death is still a death regardless of age. And what exactly is the definition of "elderly"? Really?HoneyBee wrote:Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the flu kills mainly the elderly.

As far as individuals are concerned that is true. However, as far as nature and survival of the species goes it is better to kill off the old and other vulnerable members of the species — culling the herd so to speak. Us old farts are expendable whether we like it or not.
