Hickton, if the Ilox IP address is the problem what information is required to change it from public to private. I will try to get this done before you come over.

One service that can be added to just about any device, and which streams extremely well, is AcornTVl

https://acorn.tv/

They have a massive library of new and repeated programs from the UK and Australia. High-quality, easy to browse, $5US/mo. You can sign up for a free one-week trial.

This is the e-mail for iLox that Kessler recommends whenever you need something technical done with iLox...

What info do you require for you to do it? I have the device at my place while they are away so maybe I should do mine too and test again. It may solve the issue.

iLox, unlike TelMex and many others who charge more for the "service", provides a Private/Static IP; this helps them in some ways but can block things like the access the Firestick needs. A quick email to iLox at Ferret's suggested address, requesting a change to a Public IP, with your reason, will do the trick.

Ilox has made the change to my IP adress and so far things are looking better. It appears that I can access more channels with less blur and pixelation. My friend gets home on Wednesday and I will see if he agrees.

So here is my verdict. The firestick works with available apps that are supplied. There is some screen freeze and complete disconnection which is probably caused by too many users on the server. You do need to get your IP address changed from private to public if you are on Ilox. There is no channel guide (say like Shaw) so you pretty much need to know exactly what you want to watch and know the network/ time. We probably don't require another demo Hicton but I'll show everything to my friend and leave it up to him to decide.

After getting the IP address changed the picture quality improved (looks like 780p or 1080p and i haven't seen any pixelation, just screen freeze and channel disconnection occasionally.

Good to hear bob. Still shouldn't have pixilation or channel disconnection. I will sort that out when your friend calls. Its never 100 percent as its free, but will do everything possible.
Im fully booked till 17th, start chemo on 18th, but if i can will will fit them in before then to get it sorted.
I do have a paid service of 12.99 usd per month. No contract.with hd, full programme guide, nfl game pass, all MLB and Nhl games, 3 day catch up etc. If anyone interested.

I dont know who your friend is and dont know when i installed it, but there are new apps out all the time, one  new one has a programme guide and is excellent.
The apps should work better than you are describing.  Try clearing the caches, and try forgetting the network , following on screen instructions then reconnect.
The ilox modem doesnt have a good reputation for wifi signal,  how far from the tv is it?
Which app are you using?
This is why i would like to return to tweak these problems.
