Dark Clouds
Windy, dark clouds to the north/east, golondrinos swirling about . . . Could it be?

One can only hope. Even a brief shower would tamp down the damned dust.

Re: Dark Clouds
How many suitcase you got Pete?
But no, I don't think it's going to rain tonight. Maybe some thunder and lightening but a 20% change of rain probably won't do it. When it gets over 50% then I'll get excited. AN.TI.CI.PA.TION....

We usually have some rain before the season really starts so nothing surprising there , those are the usual teasers..

Yep, I will take whatever we can get!
I was surprised we didn't get a little last night in SA, usually when the darkness comes from the east it results in rain for us. Someone said they got a little rain in Chapala last night on TOB.

Re: Dark Clouds
We have lived in areas with seasonal rainy seasons since the early 70s after each having been raised in Alabama and France where rain is an annual affair. In both Northern California and here in Mexico, we have or have had this annual ritual we must observe at this time of year as to when the rainy season will commence (Mexico) or end (California) and I can assure the reader that no one knows this so do not dwell on the subject. This year, here on the shore of Lake Chapala, some are predicting copious rains resulting in flooding and, since we live on the edge of the lake, while we do not mind copious rains this summer, we would just as soon rather not have our property inundated by flood waters. Just in case these folks who have no idea how much it will rain this season but are predicting flooding nevertheless, are right this time (we have been here for 20 years), we wonder if anyone around here has a couple of canoes for sale just in case these flooding predictions come true.
Re: Dark Clouds
9 hurricanes predicted in the eastern Pacific (west coast of Mexico) this season. That's more than predicted for the Atlantic where they normally are. Welcome to climate change. While I don't have a canoe, I do have a couple of pool noodles and a tube floaty that are all yours if you beckon.....

I agree.
Why does the "rainy season" have to have rain 3 days in a row and 3 inches to start? Up NOB, usually the first snowfall indicates the start of the "snowy season" I have seen the the rain stop for 2 or 3 weeks in julio or agosto and then come back again, does that mean the rainy season stopped and then started again?
Give me that first rain in mayo or junio and I´m convinced that the "rainy season" has started.
Likewise, I need about 30 days of no rain in octubre or noviembre, to convince me the rainy season has ended.
Too many requirements for me.

Re: Dark Clouds
Thanks, Bob. The thought of the pool noodle and tube floaty with Buuba floating about on same in the expanded version of The Sea of Chapala has brought me to my senses. Fortunately, our home in Chiapas is on the crest of a mountain in San Cristobal so, in the event of said catastrophe, we are off to Southern Mexico. The thought of my neighbor floating about on the swollen lake on a pool noodle amuses me to no end, however, so I’ll let him know you have these lifesavers in case he needs them. On the other hand, Chiapas is infamous for devastating eartquakes so maybe I’ll just take my chances here. One is foolish to try to escape one’s fate.

That definition was set down by noneother than Maincoons. It was by executive order several years ago. He also decreed that those 3 inches of rain must come from an "easterly", otherwise it wasn't really water. Do you have any other questions? Don't be impertinent.

Bubba on pool noodles and a tubey is a photo I would deem enlargeable and wall-worthy. . .CanuckBob wrote:9 hurricanes predicted in the eastern Pacific (west coast of Mexico) this season. Just like if one day the sun sets in the east, it won´t really be a sunset?
So now we have directional requirements as well as inches and volume……<<<<<oh my!!! oh my!!!

I'm all for that. It makes my May 30 prediction more plausible......

Some weather channels are predicting June 3rd for the first rain. Since I have no real clue I will take that as my prediction.

Yes. And yes. One day Historians will look back and recognize that we here on the North Shore of Lake Chapala were living under the Mainfiriato. The rainy season will begin when he says so, and not until.

They've been finding snakes inside pool noodles in the States so check before you start floating around on them.
