So as a reminder what constitutes the start of the rainy season?

Re: thunder dark clouds
I can not recall exactly but it has something to do with tropical and subtropical jet streams and easterly flow and it being more than one or two isolated storms. Maybe a weather guru will chime in. I just know that not just any storm or shower is a rainy season beginning.

Heavy rain occurred just north of GDL.
Rain is rain, take it any way or any time you can get it.

I think everyone does take rain whenever we get it. We can have rain in December or January and are happy to get it. But no one speculates that the rainy season has started.

This rain is all my fault as i just had all the weathercoat and membrane stripped from my roof! I guess I should have realized it would be inevitable that this would bring on the rainy season a month early. No tarps, but so far only leaking through the cracked skylight, not the roof. Fingers crossed. So sorry for bringing on this inconvenience!!!

Yesterday's storm came off the pacific according to the weather satellite. Rainy season rains come from the east/north-east as a product of the north east trade winds which start on June.

Re: thunder dark clouds
Someone asked when does the rainy season start. We usually have the occasional rain at this time of the year. However the true rainy seasons usually starts on or about the middle of June.

It rained once last year at this time when I was re-doing another roof on one of our casitas too. The contractor called me a 2am to rush over with tarps as he heard the thunder.

Somehow, the roofgods KNOW and stick it to us as we try to get ready for the rains.

Isn't it time to start the annual lottery on which day the rainy season will actually begin?
My guess is it will be early this year.......June 10th

Re: thunder dark clouds
We can no longer rely on weather forecasts based on historical data. Although, the weather gurus are predicting a long, dry summer in our part of the world. As Lady O already mentioned, it is apparently to do with changing ocean currents and jet streams.

There are usually a couple of rains in May, so last night was not unusual.....fairly normal.

HA!.....no thanks, I don't want to have to remember what I said, or even worse, reminded by someone else, what I said.
In this case, I'll rely on my hindsight........
