Fifties, medium build, big black rim glasses. Not Leo? I don't know what he looks like.

Brain lock when you said Leo.....
Could be Polo, or  more affectionately Very Happy known as "Pollo", the owner.  He would fit that description.  Every move in that store was instigated or approved and authorized by him.  You just don't see him out there with "hands on ", but he knows what's going on.
Pancho did a great job and he will be hard to replace or Polo will have to get his "hands on", doing a lot of the grunt work.
It may not be the same for quite a while but the business will survive.
Let's check the score card again in 6 months.  The business is not operating on a low capital reserve.

I know all that and I don't call him anything affectionately. He doesn't have a clue! He blew Thanksgiving and he's blowing reordering. SuperFalta will be just another abarrote soon.

My only hope is someone builds Pancho another store.

And a large flat roof to put solar panels on! Those freezers and coolers suck electricity like there's no tomorrow. I can't imagine what Superlake's electricity bill is.

I had a discussion once with Jsun from Esun and asked him why all the automotive manufacturer's didn't have the roofs of their massive factories covered in solar panels. He said the Mexican government gave them such huge subsidies for electrical that it wasn't worth it to go solar.

The automotive factories are a different kettle of fish I think. I highly doubt that SuperLake is getting subsidized. If it is then maybe it explains all the tiny "stores" selling toilet paper and refrescos out of their garages. Quien sabe.

Another uncle (can't remember his name)....evening mamager, Superlake
And a few others I can't recall right now

If he was anymore connected, it would require surgery to separate him.
Mexican blood is a lot thicker in SAT than "gringo water".

The Paz family had five boys and four girls. One brother died, one, Jesus, is a priest. One sister, Lety had the restaurant of that name with her son. I understand she now lives in the US, not sure and do not know her son's name. That does it, I guess. Mario sold the restaurant to his wife's brother, Jamie Enciso Ibarra.

Lety, the namesake of Lety's restaurant is the daughter of Chino, whose apellido is Montes. Lety's mother/Chino's wife is a Paz.
Chino is at the restaurant almost every day.

Just back from stopping at the store, happy to say it is doing well again, Slainte! Shelves stocked almost normal, full parking lot, several people shopping, short lines to pay (but one register was closed) and if you didn't know you'd think nothing had changed.

Happy to see this.

Never did think Pancho's leaving would make that big a difference.
There were some irreconcilable differences between him and Polo that didn't have an easy fixable solution.
I hope he does well in his new endeavor, but it isn't a slam dunk for him.

IMO...if he is trying to compete with Superlake in a small category it will fail. People prefer one stop shopping. He would need to go all in with a large facility that competes in every category and more. If he could offer better parking and service on top of that it could be a slam dunk.

I think you are right Bob.. I go there for specialty items and also vegies like endives, brussel psrouts and yellow lemons and buy things here and there in the store I cannot get somewhere else but I shop there less and less as more things are available around town and I do not like the traffic going there from West Ajijic. I do not believe there are enough people to support a strictly specialty shop..

No one is ever happy most of the time working at Super Lake.
Between some ignorant, impolite clientele, both foreigners and Mexicans and Pancho and Polo, neither Mr. affability to work for, it's not hard to understand.
