Renew a Tourist Visa after 180 days (multiple times) and not get a Temp Resident Visa?
Hello all!
Another newbie question here.
I have been reading all over the internet, here, and TOB about people extending their Tourist Visa after 180 days. Many keep doing this for years.
If am renting for a year and want to make sure I want to stay longer, I might renew my Tourist Visa after 6 months. Then I would get my Temp Resident Visa.
Why do people not get their Temp Resident Visa?
Thanks.

If you want to go to the border to renew your Tourist Visa every six months, then go right ahead. I do not believe that you can renew it in country any more.

You always have to leave the country to renew a tourist visa even if it is out and right back in. You also have to leave the country and apply for a temp or perm visa at a Mexican consulate.
None of the above can be done within the country.
To get a temp or perm visa you have to provide financials which many people cannot qualify.

I also read it may be getting harder to keep renewing the Visitor Visa multiple times.

They should only allow a tourist to be in the country for a total of 180 calendar days per year. Similar to the US and Canada.
