Yes, Facebook has pics and videos. Do we know who was in the little white car? Or how they are?

They said on TOB that it was Dra. Bernice, that great vet who has her office in Plaza Interlago. I hope she'll be OK.

Having had a few broken ribs myself, I know how miserable they can be. Warm healing thought going out to her and anyone else hurt in the accident.

Thanks for the info. I hope she heals soon. Poor thing, so painful.

Judging from the photos of that little car she was in, it was designed extremely well and her survival from that crash is a testament to that. The energy was absorbed front and back in the crumple zones BUT look at the passenger space - it is mostly intact! If it were an older car it would have been an accordion and she would have never survived. Sounds like she was only impacted by the steering wheel. Lucky lady.

Best wishes, Doctora, for a speedy recovery.

This is true. She has a few stitches in her forehead and had a muscle spasm in her back. All OK and she returns home today!

Of course, on TOB MC got on his high horse to decry everything about roads and trucks in Mexico.
Not one word of concern about the victims. Beer

I do often wonder why he stays here. From what he tells everyone he can certainly afford to take the huge loss on his property and head back NOB.

If I remember correctly there was/is a designated truck route through Joco', is there a designated truck route through Chapala?

I suspect that these trucks are not "passing through", but are heading for destinations within Ajijic.

They can start with random "brake checks" at the top of the hill. Massive fines and vehicle confiscation for those that fail.

We know that won't happen so I wouldn't be surprised if we see about a 20 topes starting way up the hill, similar to what they did coming into Chapala.

Remember the hill before driving down to the Horseshoe bay ferry, the brake & GVW check?

I just asked my maid from Joco and she said she hasn't heard anything about the truck or the driver, only that he fled.

Imagine the weight of that truck as it hurled down the hill out of control. I'm guessing it was full, maybe it was empty . . .

I'm still impressed with the safety of that Honda Fit - at least for front seat passengers, back seat would be moosh. Anyone looking to buy a small new car, that would be one to look at!

I haven't seen any govt. weigh scales anywhere in Mexico and the only brake check/runaway lane I have seen is on the 15D between Magdelena and Chapalita just before that very steep, curvy section. Of course I have never seen any enforcement there.

The ironic part in this is the residence on the libremiento have been petitioning to eliminate the use of truck's Jake brakes because of the noise and this is what prevents a trucks brakes from overheating and failing.
