Re: Tripps....bring your credit card!!!!!
Just curious...
If the price board with combos on it is still hanging over the cash...and if Tripp himself wasn't there...is it possible that this is creative pricing by the staff for their own benefit?

Seriously, Ferret? And, Trip would not notice or find this out because no one is talking about it?

Trip is busy prepping for his TV interview, so may not have noticed the changes.

The OP received a cash register receipt, so that means it was aggregated to the ingresos total.

I am not a regular hamburger eater but I had a cheese burger with all the trimmings at J&D's the other day and it was served on a baguette not a soggy burger bun. Delicious. The price is not quotable.

There are several large abalone farms in California that raise the red ab. A little pricy at $100 a pound. Just Google, pay the big bucks and they will ship them to your front door.

Yep and then in what seems to be the typical business response around here.....jack up the prices and get rid of the customers you did have. Suicide for sure....
Dumbest idea. My husband is nuts about the salmon at Arileo's. Drive way up there while I was lunching with my book club and ordered that, which, as of a few days ago, was $155 pesos. Today it's $185 pesos. WHAT? says he. Not planning to return, much as he likes it. There is salmon elsewhere.
Ýou do know that most all of the salmon served here is farm raised in Chile, right? They probably had a die-off due to disease which is common in fish farming. I won't eat the stuff.

Re: Tripps....bring your credit card!!!!!
If the staff was lining their pocket the register receipt would be a problem. The kid entered our orders in the computer and we received a receipt for our order. I was stupid by not asking the individual prices before ordering.

En Serio. My mum always said "the world is not round, and it's not flat, it's crooked".
P.O.S. systems can be manipulated. Here is a pdf where the manipulation is done by the owner to avoid taxes. Start at page 11 'cuz that's when it gets interesting.
http://www.oecd.org/ctp/crime/ElectronicSalesSuppression.pdf
Even if the food is tied to inventory...single orders that are backed out and replaced by combos will not change the inventory but will change the actual cash involved.
And I wasn't number 197 of the day that I went a week ago...I was number 1...and I was still there while number 199 was picked up.
Maybe I've read too many mystery novels...and maybe I've been on the receiving end of manipulations by both management and staff. Not everyone has integrity.

Re: Tripps....bring your credit card!!!!!
Wife and I are going to Kodak Alaska July first. She'll be playing with the grandkids while I'm fishing for king salmon every day for 3 weeks. Should be fun eh? We have use of a nice big boat, all the gear etc and free housing.
And luckily Alaska air flies to Guadalajara. Tell ya what gringal, how about I bring a pound or two for you and hubby? Looks like David will get a no charge chunk also since he is studied up, knows the situation and will be salmon starved by then.
What I'm thinking about doing is shipping back as much as possible and selling it for cost to friends and board members. I don't think the shipping will be cheap but that will be the only cost. I'll do a estimate later today and see where we're at.

Ferret, while I appreciate your sleuthing skills, you still have not accounted for how the hambuglers get away with it when everyone is talking about it. Or do you suppose they are going to make enough money from their burger sales to retire and don't care? There are some holes in your plot for The Case of The Felonious Burgerslingers.

How did we end up with Salmon???? One more thing and I'm over it. The obvious reason for Trip's absence it that he didn't want to deal with "ticked off" clients. Let the kids deal with it.

" I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today"
There are definitely holes in the plot...but everyone was ragging on Tripp (who I don't know) and I thought I'd present another point of view.

I doubt fast food hamburger chefs are into computer programming and manipulation.
If Tripp has a system to avoid taxes, that's different than a cashier lining his pockets.
Not everyone lacks integrity.....maybe just bad business judgment.

Re: Tripps....bring your credit card!!!!!
I was at Tripp's earlier this week and was surprised when they asked me if I wanted soda and fries. The board did not have combos listed any more. And I was not given a receipt, just a blank paper with a number. Next time I went back to Centro I ate at Subway for way under 100 pesos for the combo. So subway is my go to place again.

Re: Tripps....bring your credit card!!!!!
I just posted a review on Tripadvisor having visited today in Ajijic.
Some Pros and several Cons.
Overpriced and burger was 3" and about 3oz. Really smack/bite sized. Fries were fries. No free water bt you can buy some.
The beef may well have been certified Angus, however when it's very thin, it has to come out well-done, add a sauce, and you really can't taste the beef. IMO, had there been no beef, the burger may have tasted no differently.
Give me a real half-pounder, medium-rare, and I'm in Cholesterol overdose heaven.
Free soda refills if you want the sugar though thre might have been some sugar free, but at $28, bring your own to the outdoor table.
Staff nice and removed the water charge that was accidentally put on the bill.
Over morer than my decade here, I have seen restaurants and food places open and close more often than I change my socks (no comments).
Then there are some that like the Energizer Bunny, that just keep going. Salvadors and Subway to mention two.
IMO, with the high prices and small burger ("Where's the beef?), this may not last. Time, and how long a lease Trip's has will tell.
BTW, on Tripadvosor.com the owner really trashed a poster that didn't care for the place and was candid about it. Owner said it was a Troll. Under that thinking, those who post positive reviews are shills?
IMO and YMMV

Re: Tripps....bring your credit card!!!!!
I think the people who rave about it, like that it's similar to a U.S. burger, but I was underwhelmed on my one visit and prefer some of the local Mexican restaurant burgers. One of the nice ones is the Plaza Jardin in Ajijic, with two sizes, at two prices. I think the smaller one is under 60 pesos and that comes with fries or veggies included. Tony's has a good burger, too. I'm sure there are many more local burgers that are worth what you pay for them.

Re: Tripps....bring your credit card!!!!!
I still like Tripp's burgers and it is still worth the price imho. YMMV. A double burger, fries and a soft drink for 145 pesos. Works for me. I always ask them to hold the Tripp's sauce though 'cuz it makes the bun soggy.
