Re: Internet access
I nearly spilled my coffee on the keyboard when I read the question.
Is anyone NOT having problems with Telmex internet?

Re: Internet access
Honestly, I rarely have problems with the internet or the speed. I have the lowest package. I do reboot my computer and my modem on a regular basis.
Re: Internet access
I usually don't either. Thats why I asked the question

Re: Internet access
It all depends upon where you live. I have great service and almost never have outages. But then again per Telmex, I live 1080 meters from where the phoneline connects to the internet and wiring in-between is new.
I pay $599 pesos per month

Re: Internet access
So , how does that apply to La Huerta in West Ajijic? Is service there comparable?

Re: Internet access
You will need to run SpeedTest yourself and see. Internet speeds vary widely.

Re: Internet access
I would like to add that for two years I did have 10 down be 0.8 up. (That I posted above_ Then along came rather large random outage and maybe 1 in 10 or 20 in and near Ajijic had a major outage. They even had outages at the Ajijic Telmex office. Well when they got everything working again even though per the office I had the capability to get 10 down by 0.8 up they lowered my speed to about 5 Mb/sec down by 0. 6 up.

Thank you for the input. We rely on those of you who have been "in the trenches" for a time to guide us along. So far the advice has been spot on, so we will take your recommendations here. Again, thank you.

Re: Internet access
The standard wisdom is as CBOB noted: Telecable for speed and TelMex for reliability. When Telecable is working it is great, but it goes out much more often than TelMex. TelMex plods along, the old reliable plow horse.
People who really depend upon the Internet and also need speed subscribe to both if they can afford it.

Re: Internet access
I also think it depends where you live. In Ajijic our Telmex internet is very reliable in Chiapas it is a disastre where internet is very slow and is out at least once a day..

Re: Internet access
Telmex certainly needs to update their lines... I have lived in 3rd world countries with better service...
This week we have been out probably 50 to 75% of the time...We live in Rancho del Oro and have had extremely spotty coverage since the last two rain storms... This is probably a harbinger of things to come...

Re: Internet access
I'm in Riberas where I usually get 15 or 16. It's now down to 1.37 so I called the 800 number and they said there's an issue here that they're working on. Manana?
