How is driving to Puerto Vallarta these days?

Has anyone driven between Lakeside and Puerto Vallarta in the past six months?  Any special advice?  
Has anyone in the recent past been stopped by a roadblock?  What would one do if that happens?

I have just driven back from there and will be heading back that way tomorrow. No special advice. Take the 15D to the 68, and the 68 to the 200, and the 200 all the way into PV. I have never seen a roadblock driving this route. It is heavily traveled. If I did see one I would drive up to it, chat with whomever is holding the roadblock and then carry on my way.

Friends arrived yesterday from PV in 5 hours without any problems.

At a roadblock do the following.

Roll the windows down front and back so they can see in.
Turn car off and leave hands on wheels so they can see them.
As CB said smile and talk normally and off you go!

Do they still have the ag inspection stop? They've taken my fruit in the past.

Now as karma would have it.........just after we all said it was easy peasy........there was a horrific accident on the 200 this morning between Compestella and Las Varas. The 200 has been closed since about 9:00am and is closed until further notice. They estimated about 10 hours. We detoured back through Tepic to San Blas and took the San Blas to Las Varas road which came out just on the other side of the accident. About a 3 hour detour.

Ugh for you, but yeah, that's where it definitely tends to happen. Sorry you ran into it on a bad day.

Of course, there is always the new highway which should open any day or year now.

There are a lot of those kinds of bad days in that neck of the woods. Good to avoid 200 on weekends and holidays. The wrecks are gruesome and you can sit in your car for many hours with no way to get out.

My favorite is selling you the fruit five minutes before an AG stop on 15 and they take it back. High profit. We watched someone get taken and laughed at the Ag stop and the guard laughed with us. It was funny if they were not your oranges..
