Re: UBER
Can I get an Uber from lakeside to Guadalajara and then get one back?
The back part is what I'm concerned about.
Thanks.

Re: UBER
Yes always easier in Guadalajara although they seem to be hiring yellow cab chimpanzee drivers who are fat, smelly and who will accept your ride from across town and make you wait 20 minutes and then take bad routes as they have no sense of instinct or common sense, just blind faith in their GPS.
No more preppie guys in nice cars that offer you water and use A/C. Still better than yellow cabs though although last night I cancelled on a chimp who was 20 mins late and the yellow cab only charged 10 pesos more.

Re: UBER
Last nights experience....... I needed an UBER around 8pm for a ride to a club in Guadalajara. The first driver accepted the job and then kept sending me messages asking for directions to my place. I told him to simply follow the map on his UBER app. He cancelled the pick up. I tried for another driver and got the "no driver available" message. I tried again around 9:30pm and got a driver. When leaving the club around 1:30am I tried to use UBER but it wouldn't accept my "cash" payment terms and wanted me to enter my CC info. It ended up not mattering as when I went outside there was an UBER guy sitting in the parking lot so we just took him and paid him off the books.

How did you know he was an UBER guy?
Had UBER come to my house last week to deliver food from Guad. Nice car, 3 pc suit, clean cut, ac, definitely not a taxi chimp.

Called UBER Sat. night for midnight arrival of flight from Houston. Showed up in 15 min. and charged 230 pesos from airport to SAT, that included an extra 50 pesos for late night service.

Slainte, I need to get to Guadalajara from Ajijic on a return drive. Medical appointment.
I'd really appreciate the phone number of your Uber driver....I don't have a cell phone.
Thanks.

Re: UBER
If there are drivers handing out phone numbers and claiming to be UBER they are most likely not. They are probably just low cost private drivers. All the actual UBERs I have been in were late model cars with well heeled drivers. I have not seen any like Intercasa has described........yet. At this point though I won't count on UBER for anywhere I need to be by a set time such as the airport.

Re: UBER
It's almost 9:30 pm and there are 5 UBER cars staging in San Antonio. Looks like 1 at WM, 1 parked over where Dusty Chicken used to be, and 3 up the Libramiento like at OXXO.
This is an improvement over night time taxi service, no?

Re: UBER
Yes, it is an improvement. There are no local taxis even around after 7pm or so.

Re: UBER
I have my Mx. Debit card on UBER and use that. I won't mind paying cash so long as it is as per the BBER app quote. I'll still give a tim.
I want to go to the Juan de Dios Market in Guad sometime.
The only time I wouldn't trust UBER is if I have to be at the airport at say 0600 so I need a pickup at 0500 to be sure. I want to know I'll make it. For something critical, I use Miramontes.
As for directions, every UBER I have used NOB has a GPS. amd O lmpw tjeu hve them for Mx.so why a problem.

Aw, C'mon, Clueless: Please do us a favor and proofread. You lost me on this one: "amd O lmpw tjeu".
I agree that if getting there on time is critical, we can count on the Miramontes family drivers. They also are very helpful in a situation where you need translation. Most of all, they are excellent drivers with cars in good working order.

The prices I am seeing here for Uber service to Guad and back suddenly makes Guadalajara so much more accessible. Love it.
