Are you saying that all traffic leaving Centro Laguna and Interlago malls on the Libramiento exits have to head towards Chapala in the right hand lane rather returning to Ajijic in the left hand lane? I think crossing the solid line only applies to traffic on the road where the lane is, not traffic entering from other directions. Thousands of vehicles cross the center line everyday turning left, in places like Riberas when leaving business parking locations and entering the Carretera. Of course the traffic on the main road has the right of way going in either direction over traffic entering where there isn't any traffic control.

No wonder there are accidents..no one agrees on what to do..except for the transitos that will give you a ticket no matter what you do..

The easy part is getting into Walmart, especially coming from the west. But how do you leave, Brigitte? Do you turn east out of the parking lot and take the next left turn light, or do you cut across traffic to go directly west? That's the ones that cause the most potential accidents, especially when they all try to turn west at the same time!
I think turning left coming out of Walmart is legal as long as you do not interfere with traffic on Carretera, which has the right of way. Due to the congestion of heavy traffic there it is probably prudent to do as Brigitte suggests and go east to the lateral in front of SL and catch the light to turn west. The problems are the drivers who try to intersperse themselves forcibly into the west bound lane when there isn't space and then stop the east bound traffic....or cause an accident.

Aw, come on Brigitte, those guys get beat up on enough. I've been driving around here and elsewhere for 36 years without a turning violation. They got me for a seat belt once and going the wrong way on a lateral, but I was guilty. I've run a couple of red lights when they changed just as I approached and didn't stop but got away with it because there wasn't any Transito around, so it evens out.
I would hate to be the Father Confessor for people who have committed traffic violations around here and gotten away with it. You'd never get any sleep and almost everybody would be waiting to confess.

We got stopped for not turning on my turn signal to change lane according to a transito in DF...pretty funny no.? That was after they wanted to impound the car for driving on the wrong day but when I explained it was Benito Juarez´s day therefore they were full of it, they decided We had changed lane without turning on the blinker...We had to laugh about that one..

I think it was more than that because we were lost and I asked them to show us the way so they turned on their siren and showed us the way out of town so $100 would have been a little cheap...but the deal worked for both parties.

for a fee...but yes they did get us out of the insane traffic pretty quickly. Amazing what a little money and sirens can do!
