Regardless of what it may look like to you, Chula Vista has NO driving range. FYI, a driving range needs to be at least 250 yards long, which this space is not.

and a hockey rink usually needs to be longer and wider than the one on the river[3 years ago we played a game of shinny on a 10meter by 20 meter temporary rink right her in chapala] but people still use it to play hockey on just like a cow pasture can be used as a driving range. have you personally measured it by the way and can you drive a ball 250 yards?

Its not a driving range and even you could probably drive the ball 250 yards with bit of practice, pedro.

The perceived driving range is less than 200 yards paralleling the Carratera . There is a net on the west end of property.....approx. 20 feet high. A proper driving range has nets approx. 40' high, and requires nets surrounding the range. None exists at Chula Vista. Without the nets balls would be hitting the club house or the carraterra, or the homes at the west end of the property. They have a putting green. People hit wedges to loosen up on their"range". As far as pedro goes, he couldn't hit a 250 yard drive unless he was hitting with the wind on a runway. Beer

What makes you think so? Usually, Polo is the "standard" apodo for Leopoldo.
His apodo is "pollo" to people that have known him well , I've known him for 40 years.

Thanks JimW. Now I understand, finally. hahahaha. A 20-foot net at the end of it….with no protection left or right. Guess that's a "driving range" in proportion to the size of the "course".

A ten year old could hit a drive 250 yards with the equipment that's made these days. Happy Golfing everyone.

I know the last post was a year ago, but I am interested in Chapala Country Club. The golf green fees seem expensive to me. We can play some decent 18 hole courses in Saint Louis week days for $20 with cart.
I did play the Chula Vista course when I was in lake Chapala in 2011, it is kinda short and some high tee boxes. I did not like having to take a caddy.
Maybe a 10 year old can hit 250 yd drives but using the same (adult size) equipment this 71 year old is lucky to hit it 200 yds, unless I catch a lateral cart path.
Also played Atlas, It is a very nice real golf course. I just hate driving far to play.
If anyone has a current comments on Chapala Country Club, please pass them on here.

Chapala CC is also a 9-hole course with two sets of tees. CCC has wide fairways and a fairly gentle slope. I've never played CV, but I believe it's tighter, a bit shorter (?), and the terrain is somewhat less forgiving. That's my impression anyway. Someone who's played both and can compare the two will correct me, I'm sure.

Thank You Rosa Venus, I agree that CV has tight fairways and somewhat challenging terrain. I did not enjoy playing it that much, I regret not playing CCC when I was there. did not have car, took bus with my golf bag to CV from Ajijic.

If you want to play a real golf course you'll need to head towards Guadalajara. I'm a member at Atlas. It takes me only 30 minutes to get there. It takes 25 to get to Chapala CC. 5 minutes makes a world of difference!

BTW, golf is a sport of the rich and tourists in Mexico so it costs more than in the USA. You can have an annual membership at Atlas for $5,000 Pesos ($300US) and pay $3500 Pesos ($190US) per month for unlimited golf.

David..Are the fees you posted for a yearly membership or is that the 6 month snowbird special...also does that include a golf cart.. I believe the snowbird plan was for golf Monday- Friday (no weekends). If in fact your post is accurate as to the fees and it is an annual membership , Atlas is a hell of a deal..

Last I knew it was for a year. There's no "Snowbird plan" that I know of. The monthly dues are for M-F, for a small amount more one can play all 7 days. Cart rental is separate.
