Health insurance broker

I understand a person should go to an insurance broker to find out which plan one should get, is this correct? Can anyone recommend one?

You will have several options when you get to Chapala and there are many agents available, with differing deductables and exclusions for pre-existing conditions. Prices will increase rapidly with age, as will availability. Over a certain age, insurance is not generally available. The cut-off varies by carrier.

We are much too old to be eligible for health insurance in Mexico, so had to pay out of pocket until our needs exceeded our budget and we were, sadly, forced to sell our home and move to AZ for VA and Medicare. So, I will suggest that you read other posts here, and on Chapala websites, in order to read comments by others. There are many.

We use Edgar Cedeno who represents several health insurers. He is from Guadalajara but is at the Lake Chapala Society two days a week. We have been satisfied with his services.
