Looks like someone just picked up the new Italika BSA Retro model from the Wal-Mart in Ajijic.
Nice tank, but they did not quite get the front fender right. Maybe next production run.

jaja! i won't be recommending that body shop. now i gotta find somebody that takes pride in that kinda work. i gave the jerk pictures and lookit the mess. hopefully those struts can be cut off and the 1971 bsa fender can be salvaged with proper fittings

I went to Guadalajara on Thurs and got back around 2:30 or 3, swung by the malecon in Joco but the Chapala Thugs had left, saw one straggler but could not catch him. He went WOT on me pulling out of Joco.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), motorcyclists involved in fatal crashes are 2.5 times more likely to have consumed alcohol than passenger vehicle drivers.

In 2007, the number of alcohol-impaired motorcyclists in fatal crashes increased by 10 percent while the number of alcohol-impaired drivers of passenger cars declined 6 percent.

NHTSA defines “alcohol impaired” for vehicle operators over 21 with Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) measured over the 50-state legal limit of 0.08 grams/deciliter.

As in previous years, the 2007 analysis of motorcycle riders and passenger vehicle drivers killed showed about 83 percent of the alcohol-impaired accident fatalities were males.

Recreational riding and recreational drugs, unfortunately, may be seen as compatible, including by those already predisposed to have alcohol problems....

While there have been fewer studies for motorcycle riders than for auto drivers, alcohol use and riding are known to be a lethal, self-deluding combination. With a BAC as low as 0.01 to 0.04 percent, riders’ judgments are reduced, while at the same time, they become less critical of their own actions.

With inhibitions diminishing, and sensory stimuli affected by the alcoholic buzz, anecdotal accounts suggest some might even think riding feels more fun as their qualifications to do so continue to dangerously degrade.

Drinking alcohol while riding ain't cool, it is stupid. Expert riders know this and don't drink until the sidestands are down for the day.

Should be plenty of them around since those are exactly the kind of idiots that kill themselves on bikes and give motorcycling a bad name.

Looked at the Indian Scout, Bob, that's quite a ride. Looks pretty heavy. We had a Polaris dealer just a few blocks away from us in Albuquerque, I rode one and was impressed that for a Harley style bike it was a considerably better ride. If Polaris is building Indian you'll get a solid and reliable ride.

Good pics pedro,is that transito holding on to you to keep you from laying it down?
I road an Elsinore 250 for a year and a half in Central America back in the seventies and laid it down on a regular basis due to excessive speed,alcohol,road conditions and being distracted by pretty chicas,but I was young and recovered quickly,nowdays the recovery from those spills would take a bit longer for sure.

Nothing like equating trained stunt riders doing low speed demonstrations with drunk buffoons getting on motorcycles dressed like they're going to the beach and driving themselves and their spouses down public roads full of rough pavement and traffic hazards.

And nothing worse than a rider guilty of all the above plus encouraging others to be equally stupid. And even worse, allowing the people they claim to love getting on the back of a bike equally unprepared. And then thinking this is cute.

I understand where you're coming from, Pedro. If you were younger, we'd say you were an organ donor in waiting. As it is, you're just an accident waiting to happen. No one will want the pieces. You're the worst kind of rider. Unskilled, riding substandard equipment, full of bad and dangerous habits and encouraging others to be likewise.

Viajero, I found out the hard way how much road rash you can get even in a fall at less than 10mph on a motorcycle. Whenever I get the dumb idea not to wear protective gear whenever I get on the bike, all I have to do is look at my left forearm. Nice scar there as a reminder.

You're exactly right about recovering from wrecks. The older we get, the more important it is to dress for the wreck as recovering from same is a great deal more difficult. Similarly, I find that I need to constantly practice cornering and braking skills to stay sharp. I really benefit from riding with some guys who are far more experienced on Mexican roads than I am. By following them I can observe what they do in various situations. However some of them are of an experience and skill level that I will never attain in this lifetime and I don't try to stay with them regardless of how fast they go.

Just as importantly, they are fully committed to riding safe, if fast, and they set the right kind of example for every rider around them.

At the age of 70 and with sight in only one eye, I'm just grateful to be able to still be riding. I don't push my luck.

give it up-your bs on this board doesn't work. you understand nothing and i know at least one harley rider on this board and another in the pic at jocotepec that ride more in one year than you ever will in your lifetime. and then there's the rider of the ,67 bmw whose boots you aren't even capable of polishing. go back to your board where you have control and can appear to be an expert with a year of riding a little bit here and there in mexico after not riding for 40+ years. none of us moto people or the people who are interested in what we do around here probably don't give a rats ass about your lack of knowledge on the subject-hence your negativity? if you will note this is a thread about a swell little jaunt to jocotepec and the fish restaurants with a fine bunch of riders who like each others company and each others bikes. did your alleged riding partners leave you behind again today or maybe not even tell you where they're meeting?-SNORK!

Got a cold. Didn't go today. I don't ride impaired and I didn't want to expose them to my coughing and sneezing.

They went to Tapalpa. One of our favorite runs.

Probably nothing you own could make it that far. Very Happy

I'm sure you know a lot more about riding safe than the MSF, or all the other organizations who study riders, gear and accidents and pronounce "riders" like yourself as the worst kind of clowns and dangers to themselves and others. As posted, the numbers and the pictures sure back that up. But you know better than all the statistics about people who dress and ride like you, eh?

There are definitely more of the same type of riding clowns out there than the safe, prepared types. That's why motorcycle accident and death statistics keep going up while they are doing just the opposite for other motor vehicles.

Go get drunk or something. And then go for a long ride in your "Sons of Anarchy wannabe" outfit. Prove Darwin right.

naw,we were doing that thing where ya hold hands 4 abreast and then we went for cervezas. and as to style - that's why at my age i am very careful on my superior equipment that i have been offered zillions for so i don't damage it. the fish rest. topes i have to put both feet down because an important bolt on my kick stand only has about 3" clearance i discovered after breaking it twice in 8 years. elsinor was a nice moto but probly wouldn't be up to snuff for the expert because it doesn't have computers on it meaning you can do your own work

the sons of anarchy is a television show and they copied us so what's this wannabee schtick of yours. i don't know anybody that would not ride fer a few hours because they have a cold. on the other hand nice of you to not infect somebody iffen yer on the bitch seat-jar! yes i stlil have a cafe racer jacket but only wear it on cold mornings or for a ride of 50 miles or more. by the way you are also calling el gringo a clown and a coupla well known musicians around here.
