Re: SHAW Satellite - Heads Up
Not so.
We signed up in Jan 2012 and told Shaw we wintered in Mexico and brought their equipment down with us. No Problemo.
I honestly think the a**holes in Ottawa retroactively changed the rules. There must be votes in it somewhere for the Conservative government in power

I realize Shaw was allowing this but I don't believe they were ever legally allowed to do so according to international broadcasting agreements. In essence Shaw has been taking customers away from Telecable and SkyDish. No other country is allowed to offer their services to their expats in Canada (at least not via the airwaves). Even on the internet they block broadcasts from other countries (hence the IP maskers).

Re: SHAW Satellite - Heads Up
The CRTC also requires that, if a program is broadcast on a Canadian channel, and a US channel, that the cable/satellite provider must show the Canadian version on the US channel.
Expressvu does this, Shaw only does it only for stations that they own. (Global, etc.)
The CRTC is a PITA, but what are ya gonna do.

Re: SHAW Satellite - Heads Up
Well I guess they are also there to protect the infrastructure investments of the Canadian cable companies, satellite companies and broadcasters. Without them the US would have taken the Canadian TV market years ago. Although I'm sure the Chinese probably own all of it behind the scenes anyways.......jaja.
