Futbol playoffs

OK, how about setting up some car pools for fans. It is easy to get to the field at noon leaving on Saturday morning from here. Don't really want to go the night before.

20 minutes outside of PV in which direction?

A little surprised they don't just do the early bus thing again. Where are all these guys going to stay overnight?

Don, you ask these questions as if answers truly exist. I will try and find out. The only thing I think I'm sure about is that it is not 20 minutes to the west.

It's 5 1/2 hours to PV if you motor straight through so you will need to leave at say 6:00am to allow time for a pit-stop and finding the field. Add another hour if the field is 20 minutes south of PV. Will have to stay in PV at least the night after the game.

If someone can come up with my airfare I will be there.   

I may ride my BMW. I guarantee I can get there a lot faster than 5.5 hours.

I am hoping for La Barca since it is a lot closer than Vallarta. Either way though, a road trip for the fans may be in order. Who would be interested?

Me for certain.  Are we going to get another bus?  If so you can put me in for a 1000 pesos.  Or will car pool.  We don't have much time on this do we?  Will the next game be on Thursday or will we have a little more time?

Thanks. However, i am late to the game and a lot of you have done far more to get this team off the ground and on the way to the playoffs.

I just want to help make sure they are able to go to PV and win this championship!

I am not sure if they are trying to organize transport without hiring a bus, or if they want to get an idea of how many seats they can fill in a rented bus. I will go to the field tonight and see what I can find out.

MORE INFO...and hopefully the FINAL story

I spoke to Rafa and crew this evening and this is what is going to happen. The bus rental is $10,000MN !!!! But as you can imagine, it is full. They are going to try and get as much money as the passengers (i.e. families) can afford, but it won't be the full amount. They collected some after the game on Sunday. Now, if 1, 2 or maybe 3 want to travel on the bus, they can make room for us. Obviously we need to pay a premium on the travel cost, but that shouldn't concern us.
The bus is going to leave around midnight on Friday and travel through the night. They anticipate they will arrive at 6am. Then they are going to have a light breakfast, some light training probably on the beach and then off to the game. I have no idea what will happen after the game but I assume at some point it will include traveling back to Ajijic.
Rafa and Giovanni asked that if you want to go with them, that they need to know by tomorrow morning. If anyone wants to go on their own, I can contact Rafa and get maps/directions, etc. Just let me know.

I asked my daughter to hold off on labour until after the playoffs.

And as for your daughter... it's the least she can do.

I don't want to drive myself but I'm up for a carpool.  By car we can travel much faster and easily arrive in time for the game with a 6 AM departure time.  It would help to know where the field is for planning a drive there.

I think we need to leave the seats on the bus for the family members.

The timing of the bus trip is just a bit too strenuous for me.  However, my offer to help out with it stands.  If they have any money left over they can spend it on the boys.

Bob, Truebrit, how about a carpool next Saturday?  Return right after the game, we should be home at a reasonable hour.  We can easily get 4 people in any car including my CRV.  Split the tolls and gas up among 3 or 4 and it is pretty reasonable.  We can also share in the driving.

This game is a big deal and it would be great if at least some of us could be there. Please let me know ASAP as I need to plan my time.

First of all I will let Rafa know that we will not be taking up any seats on the bus, but that we can help out with the cost. Is that right? Anyone who wants to pledge anything to cover the transport costs, let me know and I will spot the money.
I think the carpool idea is great, but unfortunately I won't be able to make it. The LCS ESL graduation ceremony is on Saturday and I have promised my students that I will be there. I also have a stubborn chest infection that is requiring a nebulizer every 6 hours, so traveling is difficult. I will ask Rafa for a map and directions.
Is there anything else you would like me ask Rafa about?

I have company arriving tomorrow so can't make it either. I could have made La Barca as my company has a friend there they want to visit so the timing would have been perfect.

Anyhow, put me down for $200 pesos TrueBrit. I hope we can get at least 10 others here to meet or beat that........  

OK True Brit, I'll throw in another 500 pesos since I am not going on the bus. You can get it from me at the final game or sooner as you like. I live just a block from the field.

Here is Puerta Vallarta's announcement about the game...

Rafa called me with what he referred to as directions to the field.  Actually he said the game will be played in a place called Jarretaderas, which is between Bucerias and Nueva Vallarta.  And that once you get there, you should ask where the field is.  I did an aerial search on Google maps but I couldn't spot anything that resembled a soccer field.  Anyway here's the map...

We finally sent them off this morning at 12:45am.  They had a big bus bursting at the seams and Chapala had leant a small bus for free.  They arrived in Vallarta at 7:30am admitting that they were so excited, they didn't much sleep.
We were two down in the first half and that was the final result.  Haven't heard much more.

I couldn't let Vallarta get away with a fancy announcement, so here's ours...

OK, we can overcome that deficit. That's a pretty good outcome IMO.

Next Sunday will be the deal.

When I went to see them off, who should be there but Ed (the Scots trainer). He has flown down from Canada just for the finals and traveled with them to Vallarta.
