Futbol Funding
We have just completed the estimate of the monies needed to fund the season.
We believe we need between 35000 and 40000 pesos for a six month season in this new league.
The Patronata de Futbol, who run the program can generate about half of that amount and we are looking at ways to make up the difference.
One suggestion is that people may be willing to donate money (say 200 - 300 pesos) each month.
If you can help with a monthly donation, either PM me or post here. If you have friends who are not members, please let them know about our need.
This cause is way down the list for most people, but we believe we have a generous group of members, and we hope they will step up and help.
Any other suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Re: Futbol Funding
Zen, tried to call you, left message. Using the higher 40,000 and doing the math @ 200 pesos donated monthly per person, we need 200 donors over 6 months. This of course doesn't count balls, uniforms and training equipment.
We are also competing for funding with other lakeside leagues. Just my viewpoint, hopefully we can find a way to provide funding so it is not a financial crisis every week. On the lighter side, our teams are playing at home alternate weeks, so cervesa revenue is in the tank! Maybe raise the price to 40 pesos per cervesa? Money going for a good cause!

Re: Futbol Funding
How about raising the admission cost on a voluntary basis for those who wish to donate to the cause? I can understand $10MXN for those who may be pressed to come up with that but it seems that others can certainly afford to donate to the cause.

Re: Futbol Funding
Neil, I think the 10 pesos entrance fee goes to the park/school. In most cases the players families don't have money, and the expat community seldom has more than 6-12 on site for games. Also the league out of GDL is well funded as opposed to our teams @ Lakeside!

Re: Futbol Funding
So keep the extra donations separate from The $10MXN entry fee.

Re: Futbol Funding
Sadly Neil, there isn't enough interest in the program. If the community invested 25% of what they spend on stray animals, the program would probably be self sufficient. The boys involved in this program, are ripe pickens for the cartels.....unless they have futbol.
Truebrit and Zenwoodle have made a the great contribution of time and money working with the boys! Would be nice if we could figure out a way to get our lakeside community to support this program!

Re: Futbol Funding
Way too many excuses! I think you may need to test your math skills when comparing to what is spent by the bleeding heart animal cult!

Re: Futbol Funding
Neil, I love dogs n catz, however, most expats need to do a reality check when it comes investing in their lakeside homes. Without organized programs like the futbol program truebrit and zenwwodle developed, these boys might be residents nightmare as cartel thugs in the lakeside community! Once again IMHO! I really enjoy watching these kids accept direction and learning teamwork! JUST SAYIN!

Re: Futbol Funding
As a former sponsor of American Legion Baseball in Washington State, I have to agree on the positive effects to be gained with youth sports! As for futbol, it is an uphill fight when you are dealing with people from NOB. As a former High School All American goal keeper and a recipient of an offer for a full ride futbol scholarship offer at the University of Denver, I can only say that the game isn't appreciated NOB!

Re: Futbol Funding
I am the 1st to admit, I don't enjoy or really understand futbol! However, sports programs bring the kids together.....and I am an advocate, and I invested in the program at Lakeside. I challenge everyone on this board to contribute 10% of what Deb and I contributed, in September! Contact Zenwoodle for the numbers....he will share! Let's make this a solvent program!

Re: Futbol Funding
Give it some time. I am just now starting to talk to folks I know about the program. Others are hopefully doing the same. All you have to do is go to a game and watch the folks playing and you know these kids are into this. They have to follow rules on and off the field so they learn all that stuff also. This is not just about Futbal! Its about everyone lakeside and our future as we will depend on these young people at some point in our lives. You get what you invest in is my opinion.
Thanks for listening!

Re: Futbol Funding
How about some local business sponsors?
I'd like to kick in 500. As I read the OP, half of the funds are what you have to come up with, the other half is from the Patronata?
What a great picture!

We are working on getting others, but it is an uphill slog.
Come out to a game, and become addicted like the folks in the picture.

Zed, yer gonna hate me for saying this, but, as I look at that picture above, another thought comes to mind.
The kids have better balls today, and we made it happen.

Yea Zen we did learn about the better BALLS. Those kids could eat up those cheap BALLS in weeks. Glad the kids only have good strong BALLS these days.
