Chapalajara Real Estate?
Anyone ever use their services? I just recently saw and advertisement for them and am curious.
Thanks,

Re: Chapalajara Real Estate?
Since they are on the Chapala MLS site, they are part of the association and there are a couple of recognizable agents with histories in the area. Their website is probably the slowest loading website I have run across in many years!
On a related topic: what the heck is with Chapala Association of Realtors? "Realtors" is not only a trademarked but also copyrighted term that can only be used by real estate agents under certain rules and circumstances. We all know there is virtually no control or compliance rules over agents in Mexico. To me, this name is definitely misleading buyers from NOB!

Re: Chapalajara Real Estate?
Neil....I believe the term or word realtor is only protected in the US and maybe in Canada as it indicates a member of the NAR. In that capacity it must be written in caps. How a common usage word got copyrighted is a good question...like when people use to refer to cameras as "kodaks".
In Mexico, vendedores de bienes raices or agentes de inmobiliarios, can call themselves realtors without any fear of violating the copyright, but can not claim to be members of NAR unless they are.
Some local Chapala realtors do hold NAR membership.
In Ireland (and also the UK, I believe), no such thing as realtors or real estate agents...just estate agents.

CAR = the new GIL in this area. Well, it's sorta new, after a year or two.
The rest of it is what slainte39 said.

Re: Chapalajara Real Estate?
Stick with a reputable broker, Like Eager! My home has been listed for 3 years, 5300 sq. ft, heated pool, great view, quality construction, 1 mile from Soriana......$53.00 a sq ft. I am on my 4th real estate broker.....so they aren't the issue.
Get a realtor and stick with them! They don't sell, just rape the seller, as they get 7 % commission .......plus you pay sales tax @16 % on their commission.
SALE BY OWNER is the best way to go! Obviously Jim is frustrated

Re: Chapalajara Real Estate?
Real Estate agencies here change as often as the restuarants. They both come and go frequently. Chapalajara is relatively new although there may be agents there that have a rep in the area. I know one of their agents. He's a nice man but he's brand new to selling real estate. I agree with JimW. Eager is perhaps the oldest agency here and they have an excellent reputation. If it was me buying or selling I'd use Eager. YMMV.

Re: Chapalajara Real Estate?
Chapalajara is the remnants (sales people) and same location of an earlier agency called Casa Mexico, but an entirely different operation.
Eager is most certainly a very good office but far from being the oldest.
Chapala Realty/Coldwell Banker and Century 21 have been around for more than 30 years. Laguna, Ajijic Real Estate, Absolut Fenix, Hernandez Realty and maybe a couple of others all predate Eager Real Estate as far as longevity in the area. (Not talking about the Posada Hotel & Restaurant operation)

Interesting about Casa Mexico/Chapalajara. I don't believe Absolut predates Eager, certainly Hernandez and Coldwell Banker do. IMHO, neither has the rep that Eager does.

David. You apparently haven't figured out the ID of "Slainte39". He knows well when Remax Fenix was founded and how that relates to Absolut Fenix.

Absolutely correct....
Started in 1993 as a Remax franchise, at least 4 or 5 years before Mark Eager opened his office by the New Posada. The separation from Remax happened about 2004.

Thank you, I thought this would be Linda Fosse's new venture but I couldn't get the info off their website.
