How to remove road tar Empty How to remove road tar

Post by K2tog Mon Oct 14, 2013 6:10 pm

We were traveling today for a short period behind a tracker trailer that was carrying a huge tank of road tar...which was dripping onto the highway and of course all over the wheel wells and sides of our white car. Can someone recommend a product here lakeside that I can purchase to safely remove the road tar without removing the paint from my car...thanks in advance for your help.

When I was a teenager friends and I worked for a man that contracted to keep local Ma Bell vehicles clean and shiny. We used kerosene. Worked quickly and doesn't harm the paint.

Diesel Fuel is cheaper than Kerosene ... splash it on liberally and wash it off with soapy water...
I bet the local car washes provide the service Beer

Thanks everyone for your helpful ideas.

Now, anybody got any ideas about how to get this crap out of cotton pants...I don't recall hanging my leg out of the window yesterday when we were driving, yet somehow this crap got onto the bottom of one of my pant legs!

Gotta give up tequila during daylight hours...mariachi

Paint thinner works too. You will have to wax the vehicle afterwards because whatever you use is going to take the wax off.

I would stop by one of the "body shops". The finishes on todays cars
are different(and better)
10 minutes and a small price is not worth the risk (and inexperienced
advice)
