Radiation, of the nuclear type Empty Radiation, of the nuclear type

Post by borderreiver Sun Aug 25, 2013 10:00 pm

If you are not already aware, the nuclear generation plant meltdown at Fukushima (sic), Japan is going from bad to worse. They just can't get a handle on all the radiation spilling out of the place. The "Georgia Straight", a Vancouver weekly, was the only Canadian publication to publish an expose on this situation. That seems like 2 yrs ago. I think it was, in fact. We just enjoyed some awesome BBQ'd fresh Spring (aka King, Chinook, Tyee) salmon that my wife purchased at "Finest At Sea", our favourite local fishmonger. They informed her that in 6 months they will probably stop selling salmon because the radiation levels will be too high. We live in sad times. That Hawaiian vacation - think again.

Radiation, of the nuclear type Empty sad times

Post by schraderone Sat Aug 31, 2013 8:40 am

you are right about sad times, I had to quit buying the large, red apples because the last several times i bought them, 75%

of the apple was no good. I talked to family nob and hear the same thing. Many people are saying that radiation is the culprit

wish i knew the truth.

Radiation, of the nuclear type Empty Radiation from Japan not a problem

Post by mazdee Mon Sep 02, 2013 8:37 pm

Snopes did some research on this because of some scary stories going around on the internet. Scientists say there is little danger of any of that radiation ever reaching this far. "The Pacific is a really big place..." You can read about it here: http://www.snopes.com/photos/technology/fukushima.asp

The article rightfully calls out the map as bogus and dismisses concerns about radiation levels on American shores. It does not talk about what levels are and will be off the coast of Japan nor how it will aquatic life closer to the source.

That's true, and very troubling. And the Japanese might not want to publicize that aspect. But, I am also sure that scientists, particularly marine biologists, from all over the world are studying this. I posted the Snopes link to remind people that not everything that hits our email box is true!

??  In British Colombia Canada, a Harley Davidson Motorcycle washed ashore carried by Ocean Currents from Japan...
How do Scientists say there is little danger of Irradiated Water crossing the same area... because the Ocean is big??

uh-huh.......

In the NEWS a couple of days ago, officials in Japan revealed the radiation levels are 18x higher than originally announced... and it's still spilling into the Ocean.

That was a sound decision on many fronts, CBob. This could end up as Lakeside real estate agent banter: "Cmon down, We guarantee U won't glow in the dark." Meantime, wash Ur veg well>
