Type 2 Diabetes Empty Type 2 Diabetes

Post by gringomojado Mon Jan 23, 2012 10:05 pm

How many fellow "non-mexicans" are type 2 diabetics? What do you take for it? Any favorite "natural" remedies? Any favorite foods?

When in Mexico and following a traditional diet, my blood sugar was low, but up North, and following a "gringo" diet, my sugar gets high!

I'm on the border thanks to my lovely genetics. I have found that the Nopal powder helps and have friends with diabetes that swear by it.

I have the same problem...here, no problems, but up there I'm back on the watch list/borderline.

For me it is not only sugar that is lower but my weight is easier to keep
down also. Mexicans big problem is Coke. Man do they put that stuff
down. Number one consumption per person in the world and big big
rise in Diabetes. I think I just also tend to be healthier (mental and
physical) down here because of the environment and the walking.

Cinnamon is a good glucose reducer.
I found some red wines help, not all.
Mostly exercise and good diet help keep it under control.

Yes, cinnamon, nopal powder or capsules, chromium 1,000ug (micrograms) per day, Gymnema sylvestre (from India) Gymnema is also know as "the sugar killer" or a combination product that has glucose lowering herbs and supplements in it are all good. Diet and exercise are the main things (along with keeping your weight within range for your height). Eat a diet that is relatively high in protein (75 grams a day) (protein increases your blood glucose levels slower and more of a gentle curve than does carbohydrates or fats), low in carbohydrates and fat. Try having a protein shake in the morning. You can add blueberries to it (an excellent anti diabetes fruit) or some other fruit to have a fruit protein smoothie).

If none of that works for you there is the oral diabetes Type 2 medicine called Metformin which is an excellent medication for lowering blood glucose, you usually take 500 mg - 1,000 mg twice a day. It is recommended by the Life Extension Foundation (LEF) as a general health booster and an anti-cancer medicine. You can check them out for excellent articles on both diabetes and treatment and Metformin at www.LEF.org. Good luck. If you have other questions please PM me.
