Bank of America Debit Card Empty Bank of America Debit Card

Post by CATXN Sun Jul 21, 2013 3:08 pm

If you have a B of A Debit card from one of the below mentioned states, you might consider talking to your bank to see what this will mean on using the Santander ATMs later this year.  Friday Washington Federal announced an “agreement with Bank of America to acquire 51 branch locations in Washington, Idaho, New Mexico and Oregon. This acquisition is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2013”.

Looks like the branches on the east side of the Cascades are the ones picked in Oregon
and Washington.

So they acquired the assets necessary for a National Charter?
Honestly don't know much about American Banks... come to think of it... Canadian Banks either

How would depositors feel when their Bank Statement come in the mail and instead of reading
Bank Of America.. the heading reads Honest Joe's Savings & Loan?

I think I would move my money...snork

Often the same people working at one bank are retained and continue working for a different master, er, employer.
This is done to try and keep the customer banking at that particular location even though it's now a different company.
The time when banking was a personal relationship between you and your banker is long past. Many people are just looking for convenience and minimal fees... the personal touch is almost non-existent in banking today.

I am still waiting for an answer from BOA as why do I have to read this in a newspaper rather than find out from them. I am hoping they didn't write me because I am not going to be involved in the sale hopefully.  Washington Federal is not a bad bank but not a bank appropriate for an expat for a variety of reasons. Washington Federal Who?

When your bank sells a branch, I don't believe you are under any obligation to remain with the new ownership with your checking or savings accounts. Have no idea how it works with CD's or money market accounts. Any loans or mortgages probably transfer ownership in the sale? Seems to me that the new ownership is betting that they will be able to provide adequate reasons and service to keep you as a customer?

Below is my question to them, below that is the answer they gave me. No Answer so
I called the number and basically it is where you live and they will let you know if you
are involved. They are not selling any branches near where I live so I don't believe I
will be involved.

Message text: Original accounts set up in Corvallis Oregon. Moved to  Bellevue Washington. Is the selling of branches going to involve me. I am an expat and travel and will not accept Washington Federal as my bank. I need an international bank.

Dear me,  Thank you for your inquiry dated 7/22/2013 regarding the selling of branches. We will be able to assist you.  Bank of America recently announced that it is selling 51 retail banking center locations in Idaho, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington. The sale is contingent on regulatory approval, but is expected to close in fourth-quarter 2013. Until then, Bank of America will operate these locations, and customers will continue to bank with us as they do today.  Bank of America will contact affected customers in writing to notify them about their accounts that are transitioning well in advance of any changes so they have time to prepare.  For further assistance in regards to the selling of the banking center we request to please contact our dedicated customer care team at xxxxxxxxxx.. For your convenience, they are available from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern, and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern.   While we make every effort to assist our customers who contact us by e-mail, there are certain situations which require a conversation with an account specialist. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please be assured that we know your time is valuable and would not direct you to contact us by telephone unless absolutely necessary.  We value you as a customer and appreciate your business. If we may be of further assistance, please contact us again by email. Thank you for choosing Bank of America.  Sincerely,  Bank of America
