telcel usb modem
Has anyone used a telcel usb modem in a laptop in the Ajijic area, any comments good or bad?????
Re: telcel usb modem
I have, it took a month to set it up properly (the store called in to register FOUR times); by then my included first month was done. I was in Pazcuaro and the signal was awful, so I gave up. It is still sitting in my drawer, awaiting the day I decide to try again.

Had mine set up at the Telcel near the Marissas.
Took them 10 minutes and it worked great here, at Guad airport and Mexico city airport.
Still have it, don't really need it anymore.

It's all that's available out here in the sticks .... no Telmex. Easy setup and usually works well but the reception varies. I'm on a monthly contract with 10gig limit
Re: telcel usb modem
Sparks - how much do you pay for your monthly contract? We are on HughesNet satellite internet (the other option where there is no Telmex/Infinitum or Telecable in the area) and it costs us $89 USD a month.
BTW - we tried the TelCel USB dongles, went to several Telcel offices Lakeside, went to a big Telcel place in Guad a couple of times, finally got it working BUT it chewed through the 100 pesos we'd put on it in less than 10 minutes. So, put it in a drawer. Obviously we didn't have the right plan.

It's about 600 pesos a month thru the Telcel office in Manzanillo. Only time I almost exceeded 10 gigs was downloading a few Torrent movies. When it's working well it's better than my old Telmex 1meg line
