New modem in the mail?

Has anyone received a new Clarovideo modem in the mail? What is that about?

If you got an HG658d, it is just a new modem for your internet
It should just plug-n-play where your previous modem was
But, be prepared to make a call to the 800 support number and ask for english assistance - i had to call to get the speed back up to near the 10+ I got on the former modem (which I still have).

They said the new modem is in prep for a future change - whatever that may mean

I was thinking it is a promotion to sign up for Clarovideo. Pretty expensive way to advertise.

Is that from TelMex or TeleCable?

RV Nothing is ever free. Somewhere in the process be it down the road Carlos is looking for a return. He is losing out on long distance call revenue so maybe this may be a way to make up for it.

I received one in the mail from Telmex about 2 months ago. I didn't have any problems hooking it up, but it didn't really change my speed any at the time. However, about 2 weeks ago I noticed things seemed faster and so did a speed test and sure enough they were a lot faster. I have now been running 19 down and 1 up for the past few weeks. This is in lower Riberas on the 599 plan.
