The Words
This is a very entertaining and well-scripted movie. It's about a book, about a book, about a book. It's on this week at Cinemas del Lago. Too bad it's not based on a book... woulda make my comment even more confusing.

Re: The Words
I totally agree...if you have Star Choice Satellite or probably Dish it's on HBO too recently. The premise for this movie is great -- a book about a book...highly recommend this movie, however, if you are looking for a neat, tidy ending you'll be left wanting...However, this is not a problem for me, but beware it will leaving you pondering!

Re: The Words
Fantastic movie, with a great story and some great perfomances, especially by Jeremy Irons.
I think Dennis Quaid was Brad Cooper later in life, but who was Daniela? (Olivia Wilde)
Celia's daughter? Who? She wasn't there just for the admiration of Dennis Quaid.
BTW...Zoe Saldaña is taking heat again for playing the love interest/girl friend/wife of a white guy.

Re: The Words
I am confused - you guys loved it but it got a 23% at Rotten Tomatoes. That's really bad - right up there with Hangover Part 3. I am confused.

Easy to explain.....not one gunfight with all kinds of super weapons; no martial arts that defies gravity; no wild chase scenes with any kind of moving craft; no violent explosions; no really good porno sex scenes; no cliched dialogue.
Therefore........Rotten Tomatoes=bad movie
Now I'm wondering why I even went to see it.

Flamingo, as a writer, I think you'll like the movie. It's well done, and I liked it, though I thought it a bit belabored.

Re: The Words
Good question. At first I figured she was Jeremy's daughter, come to really "screw" him... I think they probably threw out a portion of the plot that explained her part in the story.slainte39 wrote:Fantastic movie, with a great story and some great perfomances, especially by Jeremy Irons.

RottenToms is maybe not always the best indicator? I used to check it because it was funny, but now it's just another meme.Flamingo wrote:I am confused - you guys loved it but it got a 23% at Rotten Tomatoes. That's really bad - right up there with Hangover Part 3. I am confused.

Re: The Words
You might be right. I think Jeremy Irons got his satisfaction, but, if it was his daughter, that Brad Cooper/Dennis Quaid owed a little bit more. That last scene, the flashback, was the "confounder".HelperGuy wrote:Good question. At first I figured she was Jeremy's daughter, come to really "screw" him...
