Best way to get my vehicle to Lake Chapala ?
Hi everyone,
In two weeks we will be on our way. As I mentioned before I had planned on flying and my husband was going to drive with a friend of ours who was from Lake Chapala. Unfortunately, our friend has decided not to accompany us. I don't think it's a good idea for my husband to travel alone. I've done a little research on shipping the van and found a Mexican who was willing to drive our Band for $1500 but he says my husband has to go with him because of American must be in an American registered car when in Mexico. Is that true? I'm thinking I should just ride down with him, but I am in a wheelchair and travel is a little difficult. Does anyone have a suggestion on a good car shipping company or an idea on how to to get my handicap van to lake chapala? If I decide to drive with him from California should we cross the border in Texas or in California? I was thinking Texas might be better since I think it is a shorter drive to Lake Chapala and that I won't have to stay in as many hotels along the way that may not be accessible.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Angie

Angie, Many either Go Baja route, and catch the ferry or take the route from Southern Cal to Nogales, Arizona. Going thru Texas would probably add several days to your trip. Best to Google your alternate routes.

The Nogales route is probably your best choice.
