Leaving MX with Permanente status
After a person jumps through whatever hoops are presented and finally gets their Permanente card issued, what are the rules for traveling outside of the country?
Do you just flash your card and that's it? Are there time limits that you can be gone?
Any help will be appreciated.

New law does not mention limits as under the old FM2.

Oh that is a relief! I had overheard someone claiming that we would have to always apply for a "Permiso Salida" each time we wanted to travel, because after all here is our Permanente.

Will the airlines understand what a perrmanent card is. They always want your FMM or exit paper from INM
Re: Leaving MX with Permanente status
Merry, please let me know if the link worked for you as I'll look for another one for Jim (he says the link didn't work for him). Thank you...

Re: Leaving MX with Permanente status
Airlines must be updated with all that new info by now (I guess), as I saw at the PV Airport last month, they sent the guy (who was getting on a flight back to the U.S.) to the INM Counter, he just showed his ticket, his permanent card (that also looks like the old FM3) and the INM agent just stamped it and said everything was oksparks wrote:Will the airlines understand what a perrmanent card is. Re: Leaving MX with Permanente status
He must have stamped his passport or the ticket. The new visas look like a credit card
Re: Leaving MX with Permanente status
There will always be an exit paper to turn in by all leaving Mexico, it is for statistical purposes. Mexicans turn one in however theirs is not stamped by immigration.

Never seen and old Inmigrado visa .... maybe they were a booklet?
Re: Leaving MX with Permanente status
Our Inmigrado cards, which were issued last June, are a credit sized card.

Old inmigrado visa was actually an annotation on a page of the old FM2 booklet.

Re: Leaving MX with Permanente status
I'm not sure what happens with Permanente, but last Summer when we entered Mexico with our grandchildren, who are Mexican citizens with a Mexican passport and birth certificate, we had to fill out a form that looked much like the FMM form we filled out when we travel on our FM-3's, so perhaps there is a similar form for those with Permanente status.

No, 2 forms, one for foreigners and one for Mexican nationals. The form is the FMM for foreigners and acts as the tourist card for tourists and all others, i.e. residente permanente and temporal use it to track entries and exits.

Elita:
Neither the first link or the second works for me. From the link address, it appears to be Dropbox and one has to log in to access any contents.

Re: Leaving MX with Permanente status
Okay so I should have gone a few more kilometers and used Intercasa! It seems my trip back to the US greatly delayed my Permanente application. I applied on January 15 and STILL have not received it! Maybe they are trying to tell me something.

We fly out tomorrow using the Permanent Residency card for the first time. INM agent reassured me that there is no need to fill out anything, just show the PR card. When flying back, they said we have to fill out the Formato Basico and go into the extranjero line. No time limits for being outside of Mexico. Only have to notify INM of changes of address, etc.
