Received a gift that’s about ½ inch thick and would like to protect it. Thanks in advance.

There's a good framing shop on Guadalupe Victoria in Ajijic near the Plaza.
Nice work; reasonable prices.

Turn right off the Carretera either at Trattoria di Axixic Restaurant or Farmacia Guadalajara. Go dow 2 blocks, turn right on Guadalupe Victoria, follow for about 2 - 3 blocks. Frame shop on left next to Funeraria. Don't go into the Funeraria by mistake. LOL

I used to use the one recommended by John and Gringal, but when price became an issue we check em all out when doing the 11 X 14 poster promo for Wild Life protection, With Atlas Futbol, Profepa and Semarnat. We ended up using the frame shop across from the Chapala bus station. Got two color (red n black)frames, glass, 11 X 14, for 100 pesos.

Just an alternative!

I think you go down one block and turn right on GV. Was at that shop yesterday...they do good work.

the shop beside the funeral place is good, we use them for all of ours and both my wife and I were custom picture framers. The prices are crazy low compared to canada.

Name of business: Vidrieria Gonzalez
Phone: 376 766 1356
Hours: closed for long lunch 2-4; otherwise normal Mexican hours.

The lady who takes the orders speaks enough English to get things right. They do very good work; have an extensive variety of frame samples and excellent prices. They have done all my framing for years. Highly recommend. Very Happy

Do they do archival framing for antique art? I have a couple of valuable original prints the need special care.

You'd need to ask them. They mainly serve local artists. You can also check with Efren Gonzalez on Marcos Castellanos in Ajijic or Salvador, upstairs in the mall near El Torito on the Carretera.
