Back and Forth To GDL Airport
I know I can hire a driver to take me to the airport and back but just wondered if anyone knew of an alternative. I see those Chapala buses drive by all the time - will they drop you at GDL? And, if so, where do you catch them for the return?
Or any other suggestions...

I go into Guadalajara and stop at the airport once a week to present papers to Aduana. I am going today at noon, FYI. I could drop you there.

Thank you, Spence - very kind. Actually it is to get there for a flight leaving around 8 in the morning and not for a few days yet. It would not be convenient for you either going or returning but it was very kind of you to offer.

I hope it is ok to post this link...

From link above
"Buses from GDL airport to Chapala:
Catching a bus to save some money can be a hassle, don’t bother to do it and especially with baggage. Since the airport is a third of the way to Chapala. You would have to take a bus to the Guadalajara bus station, which is the opposite direction of Chapala. Or you could walk from the Airport terminal to the main road “carretera 23″ and wait under the bridge overpass for one of the buses coming from the GDL bus station, stop it and hop on board. But please keep in mind that it is about a quarter km walk from the airport to the main highway and walking conditions are not meant for pedestrians. The bus fair from the main highway can be anywhere from $30 to $50 pesos (3-4 USD)."
Hope this helps

I'd suggest renting a car for the day from Mark Turford for $29 - $36. His cars are insured and he will deliver and pick them up from your home. His cell number is: 333 398 9045.

Bob,
I'm sorry - I did not make myself clear.
I want to get to the airport one day for a flight at 8:00 AM then get home from the airport three days later when I return.
Leaving a rental car there for three days would not really work.
Completely my bad for not explaining myself properly.

Re: Back and Forth To GDL Airport
If it were later in the day, you could take the "local" bus between Chapala and Guadalajara, and have the driver drop you off on the carretera at the airport, then use the pedestrian overpass and walk to the terminal. (It's closer to one kilometer, not 1/4 of a kilometer stated above.) But I don't know that busses leave from Chapala early enough to get you to the airport for an 8 a.m. flight.
Find a friend with a car. Or hire a private driver or taxi. Bottom line: public transportation here sucks.

Good idea Rosa, or how about offering a couple tickets to the Piano Rojo? ;-)

Bob,
Uhmm - I no longer have anything to do with the Rojo. Sorry, man. Franny and I are completely split and will not be reconciling. I know you were a great supporter of both the bar and Franny and I but reality is what reality is.

Oh Bill, I'm sorry to hear that. And here I thought all was well in paradise. Well, I'm fresh out of ideas on the best way to get you to the airport but will continue to rack mi noodle.
