Shootout in Chapala?

Someone was reporting on late afternoon, early evening Saturday, can anybody confirm?

I don't know anything about a shootout in Chapala, but about 2 a.m. this morning as I was reading in bed, I heard multiple gunshots which seemed to be coming from the upper/highway side of Ixtlahuacan. (Have lived here for 2 decades, and these were NOT cojetes, they were gunshots.) Police sirens were everywhere, and more gunshots. I got up and went onto our roof, where two other family members already were, they having recognized the ruckus as gunshots also. We watched numerous, 10, 12 or more, police-type (specifics undetermined) vehicles with lights and sirens tear ass up the carretera heading toward Chapala. Today, I can find nothing about this on the news or web board, so I have no idea what was going on. But whatever it was, it was major. Do you know anything Spencer??

I only heard a 2nd hand report of a shooting in Chapala but am at the book faire and not with anybody from Chapala

There was some big event requiring a lot of emergency vehicles around 7:00 pm yesterday and several times after that. It was obvious something was going on. Other than that, we didn't hear anything other than the incredibly loud concert going on at the lienzo Charro.

There is currently a lot of military personnel at the east end of the Chapala malecon. Not sure what they are doing however someone mentioned maybe a dignitary was coming to some event there.

Just now there was a funeral procession on the main street. There were 5 or 6 ambulances in the procession and one had a coffin on the top.

My source is telling me it was at the concert PANTEÓN ROCOCÓ and 3 dead, but as I am not there I really cannot confirm.

It was very loud, very angry heavy metal ...tickets were $100.00 and included 4 drinks! Trouble looking for a place to happen.

My neighbor's son went, I'll check with him. He was playing the music for me the night before and so excited about going to the concert. I asked him if he was taking a pistola along with him and he laughed. He's a good kid, hope he's ok.

The boy didn't go to the concert, so I know nada. However, I would say it's probably true. Especially after what Ms. T said.

The new police chief did some splainin' and he say's that the shots were fired into the air by Chapala.police officers because people were throwing rocks at them over there in the barrio near the lienzo charro .
