But "Roll Tide" got knocked off by Texas A & M today. With all of the undefeated teams out there, we might not be counting on seeing them in the Championship Game this year? Here is a tip root for the Ducks!

I have a bad feeling that the Texas-Texas A&M game this year is going to be a very long and difficult day for the 'horns. The Aggies are pretty tough this year.

Jim:

Even though the Beavers have come back to earth, the Civil War Game in Corvallis will test the Ducks. Maybe the BCS standings will give them more respect this week?

As for the "horns", how many years has it been since they have been relative?

Neil, First gotta get past Stanford, then Civil War Game has the makings of a game for the "Ages!" Should be a great one! The Ducks can put up some serious numbers in a hurry. I'd love to see the Ducks win a National Championship, however, I'm still a Beaver Believer! Beer

Jim:

The Stanford game is in Eugene and Stanford isn't a team known for putting up a bunch of points. From what I have seen of the Ducks, a team has to beat them with their offense as I don't think any team's defense can hold them back from scoring.

Waddle on to victory, Ducks; you still have to return to Eugene, a place in which Dawg used to work periodically during the 90s. I still remember sitting at my assigned desk at the Bank of California branch in Downtown Eugene (Dawg was a bank examiner marveling at the cheesy loans Oregonians routinely granted to their trailer park pals) on assignment from San Francisco and glancing out the window just to see Aunt Bee, Andy, the kid (Ron whatshisname who did iAmerican Grafitti - Opie was it?) and Barney Fife walking down Main Street all with fishing poles on their shoulders except Aunt Bee who, of course, was carrying a picnic basket and carafe of sweet tea as they headed to one of the countless fishing holes around Eugene to fish as that was the primary recreation in those parts except for growing (slowly) grass seed and at least in Tuscaloosa we had a few race riots and repeated drunken bacchanals to help us over the unusual events of actually losing football games which events, of course, unphased The Ducks who were used to defeat.

Dawg is thinking The Tide vs. The Ducks at the BCS Championsip and we all know what elephants do to ducks. Prepare the skewers.

With Oregon, Kansas State and Notre Dame all having undefeated records, the chances for Alabama just became slimmer with their one loss.

Yes, but remember, Bama lost to military-style cotton farming and shade-tree mechanic mediocre trade school students from Texas who had to keep up with the score on their fingers while moving their lips over their false teeth to double check their calculations. They had to call in a mathematics professor from A&M to explain that 29 had more value in football scoring that 24. Those Bama boys know that all it takes to forget the debacle on the field is a liter of Blackjack and RC Cola and one of those athletic cheerleaders to move on to destroy Western Carolina what ever that is.

Fact is Alabama lost to a low-ranked team while playing at home. That cost them a lot of style points. USC will soon take down Notre Dame and only OR and K State will remain.

You know, Irwin, I swear you died in about 1989 or, perhaps you, in fact, did do that and simply have yet to realize your demise.

You were never even close to as funny as Henny Youngman or even Rodney Dangerfield as in:

" When I was young, we were so poor, had I not been a boy, I´d have had nothing to play with.".

In all fairness David, A & M is a better team than the records indicate, their freshman QB moved into consideration for Heisman. I agree about Notre Dame....it would take them 3 weeks to put 50 points on the board vs. quality teams, as they put 21 up against 2-8 Boston College....IMO! Keeping my fingers crossed for a a 1st Oregon National title! Beer Thumbs up

The bad thing is that if the Ducks win the National Title - they can kiss Chip Kelly goodbye to the NFL! Damned near went to Tampa last year. Personally, I would love to see how his style of football works for the pros.

Neil, Didn't they try that with Barry Switzer, at Dallas? It would be fun to see a pro game in less than 3 hours though

Jim:

There have been plenty of college coaches go to the pros with varying success. It is fairly well accepted that the West Coast Offense has it's roots in the college game. By the way, every Duck game has been over three hours long (3:01 to 3:41). Too many pass attempts that stop the clock on incomplete passes with teams trying to catch up.

His toughest sell job in the NFL might be convincing the pro player that they have to be in the shape necessary for the speed his game style requires?

Right on with that Neil, however, from what I have seen of late, college coaches make "HUGE" money, when they build programs, and are long lasting! Unlike the pro's!

I love college football, haven't watched a "Super Bowl"' in 5 years!

The regular polls have come out:

An interesting comparison with the Fan Poll:

We probably should cool it on football discussions or the Canadians will feel left out once again since they don't have the NHL is discuss?
