So Jim:
Are we to assume that you believe computers are better than humans at determining who is #1? Remember, it was a human geek that created the alogorithms for each of the computer calculations.

Dawg is always pleased to see west coast sissies get an occasional chance to shine even if that shining is unwarranted. After all, Bama lost to Texas Farmers and Mechanics College where rubes dress in their high school ROTC uniforms and have sexual trysts to the tune of a drill instructor but so what if Oregon Ducks defeat Stanford Computer Geeks. Who even knows where Oregon is? Eugene is not only a place where the local entertainment is watching the grass grow but growing grass seed is their only livelihood. Let these guys suffer through the incessant drizzle and, once the game is over, they can´t turn that off.

Dawg:
Please take notice that like yourself, most who comment on the Ducks no longer live in Oregon. There is something to be said for looking in the rearview mirror and saying: Adios!

As it stands right now, Oregon isn't overpowering Stanford but Kansas State is losing 45-24.

What a great game. It's overtime and tied 14 to 14. May the best team win. Thank you Shaw Direct for the great HD picture.

Big loss for the Ducks, no more national title hopes. Helluva game though.

Who could actually lose to Stanford?
As Woody Hayes said in 1957 when Ohio State tied with Auburn for the national college footbal title, "Where´s Auburn?"
We know where Oregon is. Once you leave Northern California, simply turn on the windshield wipers. You´re there.

Is that why Ducks and Beavers are mascots?

Do not trust Touchdown Jesus. He´ll promise you the stars and deliver the sorry-assed moon in a profound moment of Jesus humor. After all, Jesus knows that the moon is made of exquisitely aged Camembert while the football rubes are expecting ´Mercan Cheese wth the wrapper around each slice.
Now, let me reveal something to you of which many of you are unaware. At Alabama´s more-or-less recent apex in college football in the early 60s, they were only playing other white boys to win championships and, in order to see Alabama black players in action you had to go to Ohio State or Michigan games as Bama fielded only all-white teams playing against other all-white teams in those days.
In 1961, Bama won the national title which, as I remember, was primarily the AP Poll, playing only against other racially segregated college teams mainly from the Southeastern Conference. Bear Bryant was a defensive genius and master of the strategic "quick kick" defensive fiield positioning play. During that year, at a time when I believe there were only nine regular season games, opposing teams only scored eleven points against Alabama for the whole season before they played Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl
Now, I was a big fellow weighing in at 187 pounds in the 10th Grade and I hated playing football - I mean, all those goons out to hurt you for an hour or so. I preferred to play in the band and was an accomplished drummer. Who wouldn´t prefer to ride to various games on the band bus with all those cute high school girls than the football players´ bus with all those sweaty hogs? Then, my dad became the head of the county Crimson Tide alumni association and Bear Bryant came to town to make a speech at the monthly alumni association meeting. Oh¡ the humiliation; Bear was invited to our house for lunch (what we called "dinner") after the meeting and during the course of that luncheon, Bear asked my dad if I played football. My father responded that I had become a member of the band. Bear responded, "Well, everybody´s got to do something." I joined the football team the following Monday just so I could look my father in the eye once again. God, I hated football. No more band buses with those great dark seats in the back. One of the first poor decisions I made but not the last.

Going back to my "Oregon in the rearview mirror comment" - all one has to do is read the news about their current storms to affirm a decision to leave. 114mph winds clocked in the Coast Range, 6+" of rain in 24 hours, highways closed from flooding and downed trees, snow amounts up to 100" predicted in the Cascades and the list goes on!

Be careful what you pray for, as we like to say, as the Holy Spirit has a wicked sense of humor!
But Dog, while I agree that Jesus doesn't care who wins college football games, it appears his Mother does (credit to Lou Holtz).

Not so, Jesus wants the Longhorns to win but he's been a bit inattentive of late.

Re: NCAA FOOTBALL FANS
Rose Bowl is back to Pac 12 vs Big 10 or more, I think...haven't followed for 7 years living Lakeside. Just know Stanford is playing the Pac 12 team with the 4th or 5th best record....UCLA for the conference title, I assume Stanford will be in the Rose bowl.....playing someone other than Ohio State, who is banned from post season play.

Re: NCAA FOOTBALL FANS
Is there a more disliked program than that of Notre Dame? The Rose Bowl still has its traditional matchup between the champions of the Big 10 and Pac 12 except on those years it is designated for the National Championship.

I'm with you CG, remember a few years back, don't remember the bowl, but, Oregon State vs. Notre Dame? Notre Dame, trash talking and Oregon State handed Notre Dame their ASS?
