Satellite TV out of commission! Empty Satellite TV out of commission!

I have Shaw and it has been on and off (mostly off) the past 2 days. Granted, it started frizzling out during the rain Sunday night but is still just a black screen saying 'trying to acquire signal' since then. It did come in briefly for one program last night, then lost again and not coming back. Is anyone else having this problem? I am west of San Juan. The signal is usually good this time of year. If I need someone to come fix it, who is good for this? Thanks.

Sounds like it could be faulty connection @ dish or LNB....He is very good and reasonably priced.

I did have a problem too until I went on-line with Shaw.com and refreshed my receiver. Of course you need your "own" account (not a stacked account) to do this.

I like Jim's answer. For some reason, your signal is weak. We didn't have any heavy wind, only rain. I would check the cable (usually RJ 6) connections where they connect to the LNB (electronics at the front of the Dish) before calling someone like Jose' . I don't believe Shaw Direct can help because you are not getting a signal.

I have a receiver I hadn't had plugged in for 6 months, of course, I needed a rehit, you know, to have the receiver re-activated. Sure I was getting a strong signal, you know a green light, but I was not authorized to get a signal. I tried doing that on line and wasn't getting any hits from Shaw, so I phoned them, and boom, they gave my account a hit and I was in action. (I'm assuming you have a real account and are not stacking)
